R7 with International V 138 Firmware for about 4 days now, Beta version before that and US 137 before that. The R7 is doing what I need it to do for now.
I have noticed a range difference in 34.7 on 138. I travel from NJ to Ohio a lot. Very noticeable, running 133 now

I run a RL360C
Galaxy S20+ w JBV1

That's it and my RL has saved me countless times. If I could afford an ALP I'd have one.
Haha. I’m saving for ALP myself. I was running a 360c RL for awhile. So far with the radars I’ve ran, R3 and V1G2 and R7 have been the best with the states I travel in.

R7 for me. Everything under the hood like I like and it works great for me.what’s the firmware of choice? Besides the newest option have you noticed a firmware to your liking ?

I run a V1G2 in my daily driver. I put an R7 in my fiance's vehicle and also have a RL360 in my sports car. My personal favorite is the V1G2 with JBV1
So far. The best detector I’ve had with sniffing out off axis and flat out range around a curve and down a hill. Has been V1G2 so far. R7 hasn’t sniffed out that off axis down the hill as good so far.

I've used one brand for 25 years or so. At first it was the only one with arrows, then it was the only one that had great apps.
I see detectors as tools to keep my licence, not a hobby.

That's weird that you lost range on the International version 138 release by Mithheru, every test that I have seen shows improved range over US 137.

The radar detector as a whole is a wonderful experience w/138. Arrows and everything is spot on but I lost a little. Others on rdforum has seen the same. Don’t Know why. Filtering

I just want to confirm that we are talking about the same version of firmware. International version 138 is a third party version released by RDF member Mithheru and not a public version available through Uniden. I have ran both a Beta version and now the public release that came out on Tuesday of this week and have not noticed any decrease in 34.7 range and have not seen any other member running this version mention a decrease in range. All the conversation and limited testing that I have had and seen talk about increase sensitivity and range, but that is mainly on K band. DC Fluid's testing on July 4th did show International Version 138 with some of the longest hits on Ka 34.7.

Texas DPS is my main concern so my DFR9’s excellent Ka 34.7 capabilities have served me well. I’d like an R7 for arrows and a third frequency digit but just don’t drive enough to justify spending the money. So for now it’s the First Rule of Italian Driving for me…..✌️

The ideal dream would be to have a RD for every day of the week. R3/R7/G2 here. Sometimes I'll even go one way with one and then back the other day with another for shits and giggles. It's enjoyable taking the same route daily with different detectors.

R3 and for the "shoot others down" comment. Terminology is important. Would you say "knee" when you meant "elbow"? We went through a whole thing about radar guns being "out of tune" Which they can be, but most times they "off center frequency" which is NOT the same as being out of tune. I wrote up a post and it became a sticky.

Welcome to the forums.

RL360C, but have a lot of "seat time" with my father's R7. I think his takes the cake on value, but I prefer the functionality of the RL360C... But just barely.

Currently I divide my time running the RL360c and V1G2. I also have an R3 which my son uses (the R3 is an awesome value in a high performance radar detector IMO), and I have a Max360c which I really need to sell as I just don’t use it that much anymore.

I choose which radar detector I am going to use between my RL360c and V1G2 based on my trip, situation, or my mood…lol.

Oftentimes, I will take several detectors with me on a longer trip similar to what @Euurx mentioned and use them on different segments of the road trip.

Overall, I would say my V1G2 is my favorite radar detector, but I really enjoy running the RL360c too. I am very satisfied with the V1G2, RL360c, and R3, but each one of them has “areas of opportunity” for improvement.

Personally, I think the RL360c has more areas of opportunity IMO for improvement as compared to my V1G2 and R3, but they have all served me very well to date.

I use everything in my sig but G2 is often in use even in the car with NRDSP. With JBV1 of course. Even if I don't have the V1 I'll run JBV1 standalone.

2013 Boss 302 : V1G2/JBV1 or R1/Redline-O "Ghetto Arrows" or both. I have kill switches for this. TMG G2 quads that are also controlled by JBV1.
1999 Mustang V6 : Jane's car, R1/R1 "Ghetto Arrows" both running 1.50
2004 Mustang V6 : One of my drive to work cars, V1G2/JBV1 or a R1/Redline-O "Ghetto Arrows" setup, depending on what mood I'm in.
1999 Mustang V6 : My other drive to work car, V1G2/JBV1, same G2 as above or a R1/Redline-O " "Ghetto Arrows" setup, depending on what mood I'm in. I just picked up my second G2 and permanently mounted it in the Boss 302 while I use Scotch Lock Velcro to move my other G2 between my two other Mustangs. Both V1G2's and JBV1 are always run on the latest firmware. 1.50 is what I have all 5 of my R1's on because it's perfect for us in our area.

2018 VW GTI: V1G2, TMG quad, JBV1

Travel Wagon: V1G2, TMG dual, JBV1. On road trips I run the V1G2 high against the headliner and an R3 low on the windshield for better K band alerts.

I have a RedLine-O, R1 and V1G2. I only need 34.7 detection, everything else turned off.

R7 here. Never had any issues with it.

I’d consider the Redline360C if it wasnt over $1400 CAD with taxes. just doesn’t make sense to buy something twice the price with virtually the same performance.

Started with a Cobra ESD9xxx series in 2003, by 2007 picked up a V1, since then I’ve given a few days to an original Redline, an R3 and an R7, but I keep coming back to the V1. Somewhere in there I upgraded the V1 to the ESP version. Will probably grab a V1G2 before too long but between chip shortage, lockdowns and a few new product teething items, I’m content to sit it out for now with my 1st gen model, remote display, savvy and Bluetooth module.
Girlfriend has had an Escort 8500 and Max, but would mostly just rather use Waze.

For radar my preferred is the Kustom Signals Raptor RP-1, easy to mount up stealthily, most people think it’s just a BSM if they’ve got a detector at all so it’s easy to grab 100+ speeds in traffic. And I usually don’t leave the house without a pocket radar on me, it’s probably my most used. Will run errands with my girlfriend, I’ll hang back in the car and report who got the high score when she returns. Again the weak K band unless they’re right nearby most people don’t even register it. The Stalker II is probably the coolest one to use, but most likely to draw unwanted attention due to its general shape, and making sure my license for it is still in order. Operate several others from time to time to learn how the other side of the coin works, know the limits of the tech sorta thing.

And that’s no slight at the typo, it’s that those of us that have been on various radar detector forums for more than 15 years and many who have been around for less with the same enthusiasm, have a genuine interest in the technology and a passion for learning about it that’s as strong as the left foot is heavy; so someone asking about which radars we like to run can be just as fitting.
