I did a little amateur testing of the rear antenna sensitivity compared to the front this morning. I don't have the cameras or the editing software to make a good video. However, I set up a course similar to @Vortex 's Red Barn course with the 35.5 Golden Eagle in a stationary vehicle with the c/o antenna pointed down the course. There are slight curves, trees and hills. Anyhow, I did a couple of runs with the DP facing the correct way and got a reference point as to where it started altering from. Due the the nature of the course, the alert reference point is approx .65 mi from the radar source. I decided to flip the detector And run it with the rear antenna facing forward to see where it would alert from. My results are that the rear antenna alerted in almost the exact same spot as the front antenna would alert to. I know this is very Amateur due to lack of video. But given a difficult course with reference points for range data I feel like I got credible results with the rear antenna performance being very near that of the front the front.

For shits and grins I did a run with the R1, forward only, and it performed better than the DP by a few hundred feet. I also have a M4 Bel 940 that performed decent, only being edged out by M6 in the matter of about 100ft.

Thanks for the testing and the results! That's what's most important: The data and what we learn. Fancy videos are just bonus. :)

Cool to see that in at least this situation, the DP360's rear antenna gave similar range as the front.

Did you happen to run any of the single antenna detectors backwards too by chance to see if detection range drops off with those?

No I'm sorry I did not. I needed to get on the road for work. Therefore I understand in a big way how busy you must be and how valuable your time is. You are very appreciated and I admire what you do for us. Because of you we can make well informed decisions on what we purchase. I must say this type of testing is fun and once again I admire what you do. Because of you, when I got back into the scene after about a 5 yr absence, I wanted the best bang, no frills for the buck and I feel like the R1 is solid in that category. That is the only detector that I feel like I can 100% rely on to be a non-stop ass kicker on the scene.

Good morning, thanks for taking the time for doing the testing.
I own the DP360, glad to see that both antennae preform basically the same.
Don't have the R1 but I do have the R3.

Yes sir the R1 and R3 use the same receiver and for their price there is absolutely nothing on the market that compares to their RD performance. I came from the S7 and M4 era and when I got my first true Ka encounter with the R1, I was completely flabbergasted. A lot of my driving is rural with rolling hills and that is where the performance is most entertaining/impressive. I'm still waiting to have an encounter to experience the true long-range performance of my DP-360. The last Cobra I owned was I believe a ESD 9870 or something of that nature. Very poor performer with CONSTANT Ka falsing. I went from that to a S7 8500 X50 and that was I huge step up. I'll tell you what I can't believe is the videos of the Road Scout i/o performance. OMG 😲 how awful. Quite honestly totally useless IMO. They should be embarrassed. Who knows why they didn't use an Escort receiver in that turd.
