Yea, you're supposed to do a factory reset after an update! You did good!

Mute memory locations are retained thru a factory reset.

Correct.
I don't know why some people think they should delete all Mute Memory locations, Auto and Manual, after an update.
You lose all your hard work getting those lockouts and making rhe detector quiet.
Lockouts have nothing to do with performing a clean update.

I also don't know why people keep updating without recovery mode.
Very simple clear instructions to do both these things ro prevent issues
Now threads are starting because of issues with 137, and so many don't do one or both steps.

Rear balance: 90%
MRCD: Off

In testing from 80% to 100% rear balance, I found 100% to be too overpowering as side alerts initially register as side arrows and immediately goes to rear even though the legit police signal (I can see the car on my 3 o clock 1/2 mile down) was registering as a rear arrow.

80% was way too slow.

90% the arrows transition in almost real-time, worst case it was like 1/2 second delay.

I turned MRCD On and did a drive all the way up and down Mound Road and there was MRCD on almost every intersection. Driving on Utica Road from Hall Rd and going Southeast, MRCD was everywhere at intersections. I Could see the traffic sensor/antennae on the street light poles. The problem is that these MRCD signals don't ramp up/down, as soon as the R7 picks it up it is FULL blast overpowering alerts for everything else. When I pass the MRCD signal, the arrow shifts to the rear and the full blast signal keeps going for 1/2 mile. It is annoying. As a result I just turned off MRCD.

It seems a lot of people in the Great Lakes forum don't believe me, so I invite anyone with a R7 and MRCD activated to just drive up/down Mound Road (a major road) to see for themselves.
Post automatically merged:

Also wanted to add that K-Band is set to 50% on my R7. I tried 60% based on DC Fluid and Vortex Radar's suggestions but it is too noisy for me as it tracks some BSM's a little too well. 50% cuts it down to a happy medium and I have to be very close to a FCA/Stellantis or Cadillac.

It's not so hard. I think I have 4 locations locked out. All auto mute memory.
Running through it again verifies it works as intended.
Besides, it's fun!

Not necessary for the average user to do, I agree.

Yeah, my own city I can manually lock out most in one pass I know them so well.
But to lose all the ones in Vancouver, Alberta and every city or highway spot along the way, I'd regret it big time.:D

Wish you could save it to a file and send it to the rest of us Albertans LOL

Can I ask why someone might turn on Ka 7 under segmentations?

Can someone advise me what's the best set-up for maximum k sensitivity only. Thinking of redflex detection.
I have k on, k pop on, k filter off, mrcd on, all other filters off, x on.
Someone said that x helps detect all bands?
Mrcd helps redflex detection?
Although redflex is low frequency, low power k band, I'm beginning to think it falls into the mrcd category? Thanks for the help. I sure didn't enjoy the update procedure!! 😭

Calgary Alberta. I did just a reinstall of 1.37 with recovery mode, then a factory reset, then these settings.

If I might suggest, change your laser tone to something different than K Band tone, as you might want to know the difference on first alert.

The concept of an RDF-wide crowdsourced lockouts database is truly inspiring. Imagine a capability to upload all of your lockouts to a service that would merge them into a master that could be downloaded by the community. Since it would be too large to load all of North America into an R7 at once, it would have to be segmented by city/state/province and we would download what we need based on where we travel. Is this technically feasible?

Too large and a nightmare to administrate, everyone has a different idea of what should be locked out
I would settle for the ability to save my own data files, and be able to reload them after a full memory delete, like one does with GPS POIs or the Camera Database.
That way one detector done right can share with all others of the same brand.
Only need to lockout on one Uniden, and all have the ability to load the lockout GPS data.

I am sure Uniden can program something like this... hopefully its a feature down the line.

do we still need to enable mrcd to reduce mazda falses?
If on firmware 137, I would turn off MRCD until a new firmware is released, unless you need it against mobile photo vehicles.
No word on what Mazda CX-5s do on Firmware 137, I expect it's back to normal falsing with MRCD off.
The effect of MRCD On in 137 has hurt K Band reliability to police radars.
I will update the OP.

I'm in NJ (near NYC) and rarely do road trips. I did go away to upstate NY this weekend and got a shit ton of x/k falses mostly near Japanese cars (honda/acura/mazda)

Any recommendations on how to get rid of this?

See post #1 settings, and use City mode in heavier traffic areas.
Consider rear K Mute set to On.

Irish r7 users may be interested in my recent redflex van interactions:....

The redflex was vertically polarized favouring a vertical mount.
(Seems easier to conceal r7 along side of mirror).

I'm getting at least 20-25% extra range with vertical mount!
400 meters toward camera in lane, 250 meters away from camera, other lane. And yes, they can get you in the other lane!

I'm very happy with this range.

The RF frequency was 24.087, which enables me to use wide k band rather the extended k band. Helps shut it up a bit.

Not sure if this is always the case, but that's what my recent tests showed in my area. So keep experimenting!
