To help out all the people asking about settings and being confused by all the different recommendations, I have listed all Firmware 137 Menu options in order of appearance.
Please state your City, what settings you use different, and why you choose those settings.
Copy and paste my layout (plagiarism from @Vortex a few firmwares ago :shadyhat:), and adjust if you like.
This will help others decide if your settings are for them, or something else suits their preferences better.
Remember, we all have different tolerances and expectations, so let's not start a debate over what is better, but try to share our experiences with others to improve the experience.
This is a very large and intimidating menu for the less experienced users, many who just want to plug it in and drive.
Thank you in advance for your community contribution

DC Fluid F137 Settings:
  • Menu: Expert
  • Highway: most of the time and while doing lockouts, Advanced w/ K band at 50% or City when in extreme K zones or new cities while travelling. For instance, I may long press menu button to switch to Advanced Mode when entering a city after the first K beeps, as I have not had a chance to lock out on first visits to those places. City Mode for big city traffic jams etc.

Is K @ 50% still safe with the reduced sensitivity on 1.35 (and presumably 1.37)? I've read a number of posts where people cranked K back up with FW 1.35.

50% K is still very good range.
The reason people, myself included, are cranked back up to Highway, is simply because I can.
With much better filtering than 133 firmware, 135 & 137 can run higher K in the same areas as before, with far fewer false alerts.
So maximum reception it is please, in my K danger zones.

TSF on, is that primarily for legit TS in your area or does it actually improve on the filtering combined with kblock 1/2 weak and k filter?

It definitely improves false rejection of BSM and other sources for me.

I try to keep settings as close as reasonable to default. Changes noted in video descriptions.
If anyone is curious on how the detector runs out of the box, it is a close approximation.

My R7 is on the way so I cannot contribute with personal settings but do appreciate you posting.

Being from Alberta I'll try your settings as a starter, adjust from there.

Getting lockouts done is the hard work.
Improvements in Firmware 137 make it lots easier to be successful.

I live in Alberta, I posted mine (1.35) some time ago. I am going to install 1.37 this week and then I will post them again. We are pretty much bang on as far as I can remember with what DC Fluid posted (from BC) I would say using his settings are spot on for us too. Sherriff's and RCMP are using K band more and more here and BC is bad for being K band heavy on their highways.

Got mine yesterday! Still playing with it.
1.35 firmware and a bit disappointed with k range. Will be downloading International 1.37 which apparently has better k range.

Please do let me know, I am looking forward to exchanging ideas/settings with fellow Canucks. On my R3 I ended up shutting off K band and it was just too much chatter, that won't be the case anymore as you mentioned more and more K popping up.

Minimal K advantage on International from my tests, noticeable but not much difference.
Against Redflex however, International Firmware has been tweeked to work better against that.

Thanks for that DCFluid!
Better redflex than 1.33 as well? (I hear 1.33 has very good k band sensitivity.)

@Mithheru can post you a link of Int 137 vs NZ Reflex.
International has a good edge.

I retract my above statement LOL. I just compared my settings to DC Fluid's and they are almost identical. The only differences are ones that are personal (Colors and volumes and so on)

My settings are pretty much the same as DC's besides visual and audio settings. I did want to ask @DC Fluid if you noticed any slowdown on TSF setting as far as QT goes, I am not going to be in QT K band roads for several weeks, but I wanted to ask if there is a big penalty.

The only other setting I have changed is mute memory to be X, K, KA so I can mute MRCD false alerts as I have the street lights with I believe so sort of Radar that shows up as MRCD if I turn MRCD on and as K band if I turn it off, so previously, I had to turn off mute Memory x,k,ka as auto mute mem would possibly mute Ka and Erin, TN has a cop in the same spot patrolling so I did not want to take the risk, but I also wanted added BSM reduction, so now there is no issue it seems.

So:
Mute mem: X, K, Ka
Auto Mute mem: X, K

Thanks DC!

I never had the light bulb come on until this post!!!!
You can choose the bands of Auto or Manual Mute memory, so you can manually lockout a Ka or MRCD, but Auto function leaves it alone.
Outstanding!! Pro level refinement right there! :slick: :w00t:

As for TSF and K Filter, they have no noticeable or meaningful effects on QT or reaction times.
An outstanding job by Uniden to have filters with so little negatives to them, but highly effective.

I will add a disclaimer that on recent tests on Firmware 135 against K band, I believe I could see reception range loss with each filter, assuming that was part of the excellent new filtering.
You can see a pattern in this test here, but remember the one detector R7A was previously showing about a 2% edge against R7B on different or same firmwares. I did a Firmware swap from 133 to 135 in the field and noted a 1.1% range loss against Falcon HR with all filters ON.

My advice is to not worry about any Uniden filters, just set up and run at the highest sensitivity settings that allow you to enjoy your drive.
