Having had Custom Installed Detector Systems since the early 2000's. Mostly Escort Products, starting with the STX line ad later to the 9500Ci in all my cars. Once I even had a custom installed Whistler, I think it was a 3700 or something. For the times they had been great. Of course the Laser Defense was always a bit "shifty" (pun intended) and not something I would fully rely on. The Escort did save me a couple of time though from a Lidar using cop. But I wouldn't count on it and took it as a bonus.

I loved the Escort and hoped they would improve their shifters. That never happened. The last few years they got useless. I got 3 cars with the 9500Ci installed. Just way to many false alerts to be useful. Especially on K band. Its the progression of so many cars with BSM and other equipment. Looking at Escort recently and having had some sticker shock from their 360Max Ci line, with shifters who are mediocre at best, I was looking at other options. Especially after learning more about the corporate leadership and philosophy and lack of customer care and support.

As I do my own installs (for good reason) I felt treated like an idiot by Escort. I have an engineering back ground and own a manufacturing company. Having built and designed our own custom machines with controls ect. ect. these installs are not rocket science. But after one installer actually drilled holes into the shifter housing to attach to a Porsche leading to a ticket I decided I won't trust any installer. (The shifters died due to moisture. ) That and the fact I am a perfectionist car enthusiast how can I trust what else I never may know they mess up. Escort says, only custom installers have the skills with all the technical challenges. BS. I understand they want a proper sales channel structure. But that doesn't mean to feed BS thinking people are stupid. A good install takes experience, sure. But it also takes time, patience and research. That with the right tools ect. ect. Sloppy installs won't last of course.

Long story short. Got the ALP with 2 RX and 1 TX sensor. BMW M6 front coverage. After using a Uniden R7 as a temporary solutions I know I don't like windshield mounted. Especially in a convertible. Radenso RC M is sold out. And since I think I am OK with the phone app use for the ALP I ordered the NetRadar DSP. Install went smooth. But getting a Radar disconnected error and testing with an actual Police Cruiser showed it is not working. So now I am working for a response from ALP. Not complaining. Cables all checked out for continuity. All good. The RD3 module may the the culprit but the GPS is communicating through it fine. So my guess is the Radar Antenna they shipped is defect. Just finished install yesterday, so I will see how ALP will deal with it and keep you guys posted. Can't wait for it to be working. I am in the process to get a Stalker ProLaserIII to be able to do my own testing finally.
