No sir! It wasn't you I was thinking of at all. Haven't there been some differences between guns though? With the Genesis being the among the nastiest?
Yes! These Genesis II's are the V1G2's Kryptonite!

If you try hitting it with K band I/O turning KV off makes very little if any difference! That was one of the first things we tried. It will pick up every single BSM for miles however!
I’ll have to see how much truth there is to that, still being in Chicago. I split the city going down 90 twice a day; its a joy!

I never stopped commuting, but now others are back on the road! Looks like I’ll give KV off a go for the hell of it 🤪

I’ve got all the BSM you want but little noise driving with a G2! What’s GPS?

@Brainstorm69 did a video with it off, it was a joke! He had to pull over and turn it back on! I figured I could get away with it in my area, WRONG! LMAO!

Cool Kenny! I’ll give it a try too, if it’s rough I’m going back to default settings. They work great! 🇺🇸

Better have a fire extinguisher handy my friend! I can't imagine the fun you'll have with no KV in Chicago!

We need more truth around here! Folks, the G2 ain’t perfect, but understand what’s going on for $500 is insane!

I welcome pointing out the negatives (some K I/O stuff) in an informative manner, which only helps improve the experience for everyone - American made firmware upgrades 🇺🇸! Let’s face it, Valentine Research has a kickass track record.

Enough of that, credit where credit is due! Thanks for the testing Rags!!!

And damn, the G2 out-sniffs the R7 again! How’s the G2 do that and filter so well?! The R7 is chatty 💥📢😭
The R7 and RL360C are not slouches. The RL360C is similar to the V1G2 with BSM rejection, the R7 with the latest firmware is very livable as well (I just wish it wasn't so adept at sniffing out door openers)

If I were facing a lot of selective K I/O K band, I would probably choose the R7 then the V1G2. The RL360C wouldn't even be an option in that case IMHO.

If VR fixes the reaction time issue on K band, it would be a no brainer. Same goes for the RL360C (it appears to have the best sensitivity on K band from what I see)

Like the G2! I really like that I can get that range using logic mode and have things quiet audibly, in the city. That’s pretty dope!

Be a sport, run it in A mode like I did with KV off! LMAO!

I can’t disagree, as it’s fair to say my commute has excessive noise. My drive will make RDs hearts literally stop for seconds… talking to you Uniden 😘

The problem I have with the R7 is that you turn on MRCD for an unintended bonus, and lose the intended functionality

I give Uniden props for having livable MRCT filtering and detection capabilities depending on what R and firmware you’re using. It can be useful in Chicago and it’s cool. But then there are databases for stationary I guess.

I enjoy the guts of the R7 but find it lacking (outdated in filtering) for my tougher commute; I sweat it out with my manual at times.

I respect the R360 for what it is, but imagine it’s limited out the gate with that DSP chip. That’s my long-term look with just dealing with K noise. Pretty interesting deal inside and the best modern W/S mount Escort has made! If they didn’t close the CA plant I’d buy one!

Well said on the G2 & Redline, as the further they get refined the harder it is not to buy one.

But, but, the G2 has very short K band C/O detection. Did you rig this test!? Maybe it wasn't my imagination that my G2 has done a good job against the K band threats I face? Glad I don't have to face @VariableWave or @Kennyc56 with K band. But in celebration of this testing and the update I'm gonna get faced!

All, when @Kennyc56 and I did K band testing, and other bands, see this thread. The V1G2 is not near sighted.... it is the instant response it has against. Face me on this, if I was a LEO treating one as always running a Detector, hutum, lidar, you be 92% screwed. I am not testing you how, but R series, the original V1G1, and Whistler CR series, bests the V1G2 in seeing select K world on 4.1021 and 4.1023 that brought this up.

Doing a Dec Gen II series vs Falcon HR, is night and day. I can clock a car and lock with one gun before the V1G2 even sees it. With K Verifer off, maybe the V1G2 will pull it out of it @ss that oh wait, did I see, beep, then off. This was on 4.1023.... soon to test with now released May 2021.

Thanks for the info! I don’t think anyone’s really missed this general note mentioned by many, any chance they get lol.

Interesting and predictable how the comment section goes with the G2!

Love this 90 degree testing @Buz encouraged, the G2 always brings in a crowd from both angles.

I guess it surprised a few 😂

I added additional tests to add R7 TSF On/Off along with V1G2 KV On/Off and V1G1 TMF On/Off.

It just keeps getting better!

Its interesting how some keep painting a story that just doesn’t line up with what I see in real-world, or testing results from others for that matter.

Thanks Rags!

From what I am reading either there is something going on with the 1.35 firmware for the R7 or I may have a low performing R7. One way or another, we will figure it out :)

I for one feel MUCH better about the V1G2 on K band, at least C/O! Although @VariableWave and I have done lots of Q/T and I/O testing with our G2's, we've done very little K band C/O testing but what we did do our G2's were pretty much tit for tat with My R1's, his G1 and his R3. Our testing was so bad against Q/T shots that it made me think the G2's sucked against K band period! I'm very glad to see that I was wrong! Thanks again for this test @Rags ! It was a real eye opener!

@Kennyc56 sorry the quote is goofed when I responded.

I think that opens up to a new idea many folks don’t seem to talk about, but I think at this point is becoming undeniable!

And this comes from a technical armchair perspective (see my signature for the links) and from seeing enough real world data/testing.

That is… the V1G2 is grabbing all freq’s present in the threat spectrum (X, K, Ka) front and back in 4ms. It’s doing that 250 times a second, looking over the “Virtual Images”.

So, as @WildOne put it very recently, it’s less smoke and mirrors as the others and apparently looking at the waveform.

The G2 feeds K through the same two LNAs (yes two) before mixing as it does for Ka. It sees K stupidly far and fast, but like any RD out there… the info needs to be there when making an assessment on the incoming signal. Sometimes no matter what ya do within reason, it ain’t there.

Fortunately the G2 has all that info coming in, it just takes time and refinement! I’m telling ya, people don’t know what they have for $500 🤣

I know what I have for $500.00! It's incredible and I'm very close to ordering my next V1G2! I'm getting tired of moving it between 3 cars! The alerts I'm getting on 34.7 and 35.5 are mind bending at times, especially on off axis shots!

@Kennyc56 - Between JBV1 and you, I'm a proud V1G2 owner. :cool:

Love this test to keep things in perspective.
Reminds me of my tests when I include one of my 3 9500ix into it.
No doubt a partial reason I was so blown away when upgrading to the Pro M, R3 and R7.
I wish my 9500ix and 8500 S7 still worked, I would love to throw them in from time to time.

I was also blown away by the stark difference going from the 9500ix and 8500 to my 3.893 V1G1 back in the day. It was a night and day difference. I picked up a pro m as well, but was very underwhelmed with the Ka performance. My OG Redline was better, and while it was awesomely quiet on K, for me the rest of the cons of that detector made me decide to dump it when I picked up the R3... talk about a true jump in performance! It's so cool that we have so many to choose from that perform in that next tier. The R3, R7, R1, V1G2, RL360C all giving that next level while being more livable for daily use than the previous tier (OG Redline)

I can't wait for the next jump!

And yet the best RD's of 10+ years ago saved us just as much as the ones today.

But glad we got the extra range since we now have to filter so much.
