Bought it used. Powers on fine. Originally ran it with all filters on, had k wide, ka band wide, x off. I got one alert from a leo. It was very bad detection and gave no warning. It was in a work zone so the officer was behind multiple trucks and was positioned slightly facing the other side of the highway. I attributed the horrible detection to that. However, I turned all filters off, x band on, still running highway mode to see if it would false to anything. It will not. Even places my dfr3 would at least give me a low level alert to k with the k filter on that detector wouldn't go off for the dfr6. It's on firmware 1.10. did factory reset. Tried a different outlet. Held the detector to see if that would make a difference. So my question is, is this detector that good at filtering out falses even with all the filters turned off? It seems like its 95 percent of the way dead only alerting once to ka because he was literally stationary in the lane directly next to me causing it to go full tilt for only a moment as I passed him. Input obviously appreciated.

Does it false to stationary Kband falses? go park at a walgreens and point it at the door and it should alert moderately strongly to kband... if it doesn't do that at any of the local stores with automatic doors then it might be a concern.

I have a grocery store up the street I know made the dfr3 go full tilt driving directly past the doors. I'll do that in a few minutes

Sorry you’re having trouble. Hope you get this squared away.
@thebravo has recommended the go to initial step , waiting to see what you come back with.

So it took about about 5 seconds directly pointed at the door for a very low level alert to go off. As soon as I went to turn away from the door it immediately lost the signal. This is with all filters off. I was head on with the door less than 10 feet away. K wide on

At this point it seems it either has excellent filtering regardless of settings or it has a way worse reaction time and distance detection then my dfr3

That's abnormal. I have the dfr7 (dfr6 with GPS) in my wife's car and it's chattier than that, have to keep it in city mode to keep it quiet enough for the wife's liking. It definitely alerts at door openers at that distance strongly.

Yeah. Well it has the eBay money back guarantee so I think I'm going to go that route. Ill go to a couple of other places later tonight to be 100 percent sure it's on its last legs but it seems likely at this point. I shall see

Sounds like there is definitely something wrong with it.

So I drove around with pop mode on to see if it would false for anything in the area. Nothing. I was on the highway and it got a wiff of a ka signal. Around 1.5 miles. It went away. Came up on the cop having someone pulled over. It went off again right as I passed him. Lost signal again quickly. I think this thing has been sun bathing for a couple of years. I bought it specifically because the top of the detector wasn't torched off from heat but I guess some hold up better than others.

I agree that you should return it and try another if you're happy with the DFR6. Or try something else. I'm very happy with my Radenso XP (1st generation, no mute with power cord.) I picked it up here in the classified for $130.

I have a mount I know works with unidens so I'm sticking with them. I really only want to spend around 130. The problem with radar detector prices is that most I've seen are people that think they have their weight worth in gold when selling them. No matter the condition. That's my experience .

Just to clarify, I'm not talking about this website. My local craigslist/offer up ebay

This sounds just as dead as my r3 that I had
No alert when the signal is right in its face.

Yeah. Tried it again one more time today. It's bad. The sellers page says he doesn't accept returns, but he will for me so now I'm concerned he's going to try to pawn it off on someone else. I'll have to keep a look out for his listings.

My DFR7 is quite quiet, but I have all sorts of filters and QR. Yours seems like a dud. Do factory reset, and if you are still not able to pick up signal then you'd have a confirmation. Hope the return process is painless.

I have zero filters enabled. X band on. Ended up turning on pop to get extra falses. Zero.

Also, the light on the power cord is suppose to be orange for regular operation, correct?

No idea. I use the cord from my smartradar. It works well enough to grab my attention. Even my r7 is powered by an escort cable in the other car.
