So in other words the R7 was not set up right and on the latest 135 firmware?
Cause my wife loves mine, it's far quieter to BSM than my RL360c, to the point it's a toss up R7 or Pro M for a quiet drive through town.
With the exception a manual lockout is required once in a while, which my wife won't do even on her Pro M.
Says the beep in the same places every day lets her know it's working.
Thus the Max 360c or DualPro 360 for her in the new car shortly. :ughh:
So what's the secret sauce to get the R7 to be quieter around town?

No secret.
Many threads on the topic.
If something isn't working then you look into why, and make changes until satisfied.
The amount of setting combinations is crazy.
Trial and error for each different area, but lots of good references here to get a decent start.

So you’re saying that your RL360C isn’t as quiet as your R7 or Pro M.

FWIW, I personally find both my V1G2 and RL360C to be quieter than my R7. 🤔

Maybe that’s why the original owner of the RL360C you purchased listed it for sale? 😉 😂

No, the Redline is fine and very good considering.
Both it and the Max 360 are noisier on BSMs than my R7 on 135.
IF all lockouts are done equally, which is easier on the Escorts but far far more risky than the narrow R7 lockout frequency, then edge to R7.
If you don't put in the effort the R7 could be noisier because of unlocked door openers.

My key settings for R7 K Band.
Hwy, Adv 50%, City based on where I am, though on 135 running highway mode most of the time has been no hardship.
K Filter and TSF on.
K Block 1&2 Weak
K Narrow (this is a big factor, cut out unneeded frequencies)
Rear Horn 80% sensitivity
MRCD on for me vs. CX-5, as I have no MRCD/CT here to make noise.
Quiet Ride 30 mph
Red Light QR 55 mph
MRCD QR On
Quiet Ride 1 beep volume 1
Auto Mute Memory on
Auto Mute on, volume 3

Redline I get excessive MRCD falsing, in AB city I needed it to work. Makes it pretty useless multiple alerts a day to nothing.
Max 360c duplicates this behaviour
Max 360c alerts to CX-5 very well
Redline does not.
Redline alerts to many GM, Chrysler and other products including Honda punch through K Notch. Many frequencies I've not seen on other detectors show up on both Escorts. Some of it due to the large frequency range required by their segmentation, needing 1,2,3 to cover the danger range here 24.090 to 24.200. More frequency, more alerts to BSMs.

Is there a big difference between all 3?
No, but noticable if your taking notes and videos like an RDF geek.
All 3 could be described as having excellent filtering.
Escorts most automatic to get quiet.
Pro M most heavily filtered but manual lockouts, so work required too. Performance is also down, so drops in favor as a high performance choice. Nice for the wife
I hope the R7 Auto Mute Memory is helping those in big congested cities with K Band hell. I know my city well and can lock out new detectors manually very quick, knowing nearly every source.

I have to agree with @DC Fluid, I think my R7 is much quieter to BSM's than my Redline 360. That's why the R7 is in my fiance's Jeep.

I will try these settings. I will also post tests with these settings. Thank you.

Just teasing with you my friend. ;)

I sincerely appreciate that you've shared your R7 settings and absolutely respect your opinions and testing results. As with all radar detectors, where we use them has a lot to do with what we experience. I don't experience K band or MRCD where I live so obviously that goes a long way to making mine quieter (and the entire reactivity thing a non-starter).

Hahaha I know you were yanking my chain!

Another feather in the R7 cap, that really isn't given enough credit, is here, today in my city the R7 is exactly 1/2 price of a Redline 360c.

For nit picky little differences in filtering and performance, that's a big advantage to get many more drivers into a premium performance detector.

I suppose I can have a bit of elitist snob attitude when I put up the Redline, like pulling out of the garage in my (imaginary) exotic over priced car. LOL.

When the chicks see me cruising the strip with a RL360c on its mag mount, the gold diggers will be chasing. :roflolmao:
