Kustom Golden Eagle. Thanks for the reminder, I will edit my post!
That makes this even more impressive IMO. From experience, the Kustom 35.5 guns are harder to detect than the Decatur guns.

To be fair to the R7 however, it kills the V1G2 against K band and murders the RL360c on all bands of I/O and Q/T! The R7 is a very balanced detector against all threats while the V1G2 ia a one hit wonder against Ka band, at least till it gets fixed! Lucky for me I don't ever face I/O K band, but all it will take is once and my day will be ruined!
Yes, the R7 seems to be better on K band, the problem is... it's very tough to trust an alert from it. K band is constantly going off. It has got better, but really needs help. I haven't had any issues with the V1G2 detecting k band and io k band, it's just slow to react at this point. Again, I hope VR fixes that little issue.

If you shoot it with a Genesis II it's way more than a little problem! 3 second delays are the norm, and 5 seconds aren't hard to get either while my R1 eats the same gun up only having 1/2 second delays even with K filter and TSF on at 70%! With all filters off it reacts instantly! My R1's are great against K band in the field as well and are very quiet. I used to get hit with K band a lot when I was running one of them as my daily.

Yeah that's what I've heard. I can confirm there is a delay of about 1 second with my Kustom Golden Eagle K band as well, the RL360C has about 2 seconds of delay. I have yet to test the R7 with the latest firmware, but on old firmware it was a bit delayed as well.

In practice with real world detections, I've not had an issue, but it would concern me more if I faced a whole lot of K band.

But like I said before, the R7 is so noisy on K band, I tend to turn it off unless I am in a location where k is in use. I turned it back on with 1.35 firmware, but I am so close to turning it off again. It drives me nuts. I can run with K on with both the RL360C and my V1G2. So I'm not sure I would say that's a good balance for the R7.

Nice testing. Thanks for sharing. I love the comments on behavior after initial detection. Seeing this on your maps as well really helps visualize a detectors strength and/or weakness.

I hope to do a 8-9 mile straight 33.8 test course eventually. My old detectors though might not be what everyone would want to see... other than maybe the R3/R1.

I love the R3 and R1 as well. I think it would be awesome to see.

As do I! I only wish we could find an eight mile or longer road to test on! Four miles is about the best we can find and even my Whistler CR95 and 97 can see it from that far. That's where off axis comes in!

I have a 17 mile stretch I can test on too. I plan on doing it when the weather gets nicer. That road sucks horribly this time of year!

That will damn sure separate the men from the boys now won't it? I can't wait to see that test! Guess who my money's on?

If I had to guess, either the V1G2 or the RL360C. I've had over 12 mile detections with both.

Nice. Mine isn’t that long. That’s what she said...

My best ever was 8 miles and it was with my R1/Redline-O combo I was running on a roadtrip a few years back! The Redline got it maybe a second before the R1 and they both held it the entire time! They were on both sides of my mirror less than a foot apart and killed it together all the way from NC to Texas and back! Edit.....it was 34.7 in Tennessee.

I've been enjoying my V1G2 paired with my R3 for the areas I drive, swapping to the R3 for the towns I know exclusively run K band, and I have been very happy with the set up so far.

The G2 has been getting more time lately and after running the RL for so long I will say it has noticeably better BSM filtering, by a fair margin where I drive. The RL would give me endless 24.205 after vehicles pass from the rear not to mentioned others around the 24.165 range. The G2 has not alerted to a single 24.205 BSM that I can remember yet.

I have a, sad, feeling that my RL will remain here on my desk until Escort can figure out a way to boosts its K-band reactivity, unless VR can do it first, which would be ideal!

What settings are you running with the R7 for K-band? I have been using it in the DFW TX area and it is not that chatty (K band 50%, K-band Balance 80%, K filter on, TSF on, K Block 1 weak and K block 2 weak). I have a hard time believing that it's that much worse in the Casper, Wyoming area than DFW, TX.

I think it depends on the random appearance of certain cars. It seems to me that the R7 will alert to more types of cars than the V1G2. I've had days where they seem to be even. I have had one or two days where the V1G2 is worse, but I've had more days where the R7 is worse. Some days much worse. I'm running 100% everywhere, with K filter and K Block 1 weak. I turned off K Block 2 after the V1G2 told me about an IO source at that frequency, but the R7 (with 24.168 block on weak) didn't until I was the target.

I think the V1 is doing something right as the R7 will alert to the blocked signals(without blocks on ), but the V1G2 won't. And the V1G2 doesn't have blocks, but the R7 seems to need them to help the K filter. If the V1 just had k IO fixed....

In advanced mode I run 80% K, balance 80%, K filter on TSF on, K Blocks both weak, MRCD On

I have been running highway mode with auto learn turned on around town so it will have the best results at locking out sources.

Both ways suck. I can't go two blocks without having a K band alert (we have no legit K band in our area), even after a week of driving, it's still incredibly annoying.

I may end up having to drop it down even farther in Advanced mode, but I want to do more testing before I go that route, I want to be comfortable with how it's going to behave.

I would drop it to K=50%. It's going to be better range than the V1G2 in A mode on K-band when you have it set to 50%. It will not be as good as the RL360 at K=50%. however.

It does depend on the cars you see, but running it at K=100% is not doing apples to apples with the V1G2 in A mode. 40% is approx equivalent. 50% should be a little better than A mode on the V1G2.

I probably will once the lock outs are learned. The problem is by reducing the sensitivity, with how crappy the auto locks are working, it seems to never lock anything out, yet still alerts in most of the same locations, just for shorter periods of times. It's quite frustrating to be honest.

I have run it at lower sensitivity before (along with the R3), but both were just so annoying that I eventually just shut K band off all together on them.

I was hoping 1.35 would allow me to have the best of both worlds.
