It seems the IXC with the older 4+ platform vs 4++ on the Max 3 would have more false alarms going off. In using the IXC in the past it seemed like a decent detector for what it is.

If you what to speed, its harder to drive safely if your going more than 10 mph over the speed limit in my opinion. Especially when so many are texting and driving around you and your reaction time is reduced.

I won't comment on the performance of the Max 3 until I update the software which is a must as the auto option sensitivity is too low. But I will say this...
I love the look, the body, the styling, the display and sounds of Escort. Having the speed of the road and my speed next to each other is nice. The Escort Live is decent and like Waze you can quickly alert others of traffic or police action. I also like the price a lot. Adding a M2 camera at a later date will still be cheaper than buying the Max 360c. The $30 off on the Max 3 was nice bonus as well.

I am not a speedster and now being in my 50's I don't want to rush to my destination which can be stressful. I used to live in New York and dealing with the traffic and aggressive drivers was not a enjoyable experience. Getting to my destination 5 to 10 minutes faster is not worth it for me. I want to enjoy driving my nice vehicle with some music from Spotify or Tidal. It's a time I'm away from the family distractions and I'm in my own zone. A radar detector is not necessary for me but when I maybe going 10 mph or a little over...having that extra protection when I don't realize I'm going a little fast or if I'm not sure of the speed on a local road, a decent detector is nice.

Many of the Uniden detectors look like the old Whistler detector I used to have back in the 90's. Light, black plastic with the red numbers. It's a personal preference thing but I like the way the newer Escorts look over the competition. Even if a detector from another company is a little better, I instinctively want to stay with Escort if it's close enough due to the look, design, and history of the company. I agree it seems they are best at their higher end units. For cheaper detectors, there are better options. But thanks to places like this forum I was able to understand better what older units to stay away from with older technology and buy their best mid level Escort for my needs.

So I've been thinking lately about the iXc vs the Max 3 and wanted to discuss how they compare. :)

I don't have a ton of seat time with the iXc since the screen on mine died and it took a while for Escort's repair to open back up due to covid, but now that my iXc is working again, I've been playing with it the past day or so.

Now they're obviously gonna be really similar.

iXc uses the "M4+" platform and has WiFi.

Max 3 uses the "M4++" platform (not an M5 like the previous Max's for some weird reason) and also drops the WiFi.

Cosmetically I prefer all black detectors like the Max 3.

I haven't done any head to head range testing (due to the iXc's broken display) to see if the extra "+" improves things, haha.

IIRC, the iX and iXc liked to do the full tilt K band blast for BSM's and I generally don't see that on the Max 3, so that's a plus.

Looking through the settings, both have RDR, and 4 K band segments. The Max 3 also adds K notch, MRCD, MRCT, AutoJTK, and 9 Ka segments instead of 10 on the iXc.

So thinking about that, the iXc's main advantage is WiFi, while the Max 3 I think (?) has better BSM false presentation, better filtering in general with K Notch, MRCD/CT, and AutoJTK.

What else am I missing? I'm not sure yet about Ka falses, especially with the Max 3's latest update to 1.4. Reports are so far mixed on that.

Does anyone have a fair amount of seat time with both detectors? I'd be curious to hear about your realworld experiences between the two.
I’ll be testing one soon and can get you some MRCD testing footage within the next week or so if helpful.

My impressions of the Max 3 after I remove the Pop filtering has been excellent. Very little false alerts. I am able to add cameras at lights easily with the Escort app. It does disconnect from the internet a little which I find annoying.

Once you get a detector that your happy with, it's interesting how your mind says hey I wonder how much better the Max 360c is? Though I like that detector, it's $300 more which is alot more money for arrows and wifi that I will never use.

Max 3 has a more range.
Max 360c has arrows and better reaction time to instant on, short signals, perhaps a touch quieter but close call.
M360c is no longer worth the premium price IMO, there's better value from a few detectors.
