Great read and I hate reading lol. I was always just following manufactures recommendations but I’m getting attacked for listing to the manufacturers lol. [...] I’ve been in this industry for 27yrs and have only been installing these systems for the past 2yrs again mentioning following what the manufacture tells me so that’s what I trust
You know what's weird though? Different manufacturers may say different things. Some say it's best to install WS mount RD's up high, some in the middle, some low. Which one is right? Which suggestion is best?

What about angling your RD? On Escort's website they have a photo of the RL360c aimed up for some reason.

Yet testing shows that if you aim your detector up or down, you'll see a pretty decent drop in range.

Should you forgo proper installation techniques because of marketing/promo material?

Every manufacturer (ALP, Escort, K40) says they're great at jamming the DragonEye, but testing shows some pretty big differences and there's a reason you choose to install ALP's and not just blindly follow what every manufacturer tells you, yes?

It'd be great if everything that manufacturers told us was true 100% of the time. Then there'd be no need to think critically or test things for ourselves. :)

I’ll be leaving this group but Austin will probably still post my work here. I came here thinking it would be fun to show off that a shop actually does take the time to install the sensors properly and modules above spec... adding the covers and testing every install before it leaves back to the client to insure they get what they’re wanting I thought was going to be a plus.
Sure, that stuff is awesome. I personally love seeing great installs and I learn a lot seeing how you approach this. This is one area that I'm not very good at and so I learn a lot from experts like you. Hopefully you can also be open minded enough to listen to others who may have more knowledge and experience than you in other areas.

If you'd like to listen to manufacturers though and take their word on everything, I suppose that's your choice too.

Since some like to use off topic examples I will respond with if JL Audio recommends 1.5cuft for a subwoofer enclosure and you build it to 3cuft it’s not going to work well at all. I’m still new to the laser game and I learn something new everyday. Also I don’t trust the manufactures test on the laser systems and that’s why we do the testing ourselves.

Awesome yeah. Great examples. Glad to see you're taking the time to test for yourself and verify how things work. I think we're all constantly learning here. :)

My pleasure. I seem to know lots of useless stuff 🤣

I fully understand feeling attacked.

I've been on this group long enough to know that the vast majority don't intend be perceived as such, it's just passion, and the fear we'll lose our jammers.

Joe public won't like the idea that we have cloaking devices, and go as fast as we want with immunity, because that's how it'll be presented by the government. Particularly in these times were so many municipalities are moving to 30 kmh speed limits instead of the current 50 kmh standard.

Please reconsider your decision to leave. Lots here to learn from each other. Never will everyone agree, and once one's point is made, they move on respecting each other's points of view.

Best regards,
maz3

Edit: More typos 😔
Typos happen all the time ... I believe it’s a conspiracy lol 😂. Someone mentioned about shops doing these systems just for the money and to just look pretty ... I don’t do it for the money, I wouldn’t be in this industry this long it was all about the money... I love bringing smiles to my client faces 😃. I do everything part of this industry to even be recognized as the Top50 in the world (2020 I was 14th overall). It’s a different world here when on the other side of the plate I’m pretty well respected by other industry professionals.

So can we bring this thread back to the OP's original topic now, and the beautiful install? Keep them coming, and we all have things we can learn along the way. (Run's out to car and levels RD).

I come from a province that this is illegal to have.
Thank you for your response and history of Alberta ❤️
No reason to leave, everyone enjoyed the install and pictures - and we might learn a few things from you. Most of what you are doing is a plus, its wonderful work - but you know how things go on a forum. Constructive criticism may be seen as an attack in the eye of the beholder.

We are just trying to stay below the radar with these things so you can continue doing your good installs for the next 20 years. I understand that is somewhat of a dichotomy when you are trying to run a business and sell as much as you can.

You have the ability to educate and influence the use of these things with your customers, I am sure that most would listen, and that is what we were getting at.

I would also hate to see the province revert back and be like Ontario or Quebec, I have had some confiscations there and even a confiscation of the vehicle for a week. Even in legal areas, some LEOS have threatened or actually ticketed someone with obstruction for these things.

We harassed Escort quite a bit on them not having a timed jamming option, perhaps its time we understand what the other companies are telling installers, but I do hope you see our point and reasons for certain replies. No one is against you - we are happy you are here - and hopefully here to learn things also.

I’m getting attacked
It’s difficult to imagine a warmer response than you’ve gotten here or any more constructive a form of education. All of us here praising your work, and you take it as an “attack” when we suggest a single small improvement to one aspect of your setup routine and explain gently and diligently why it’s important to the community as a whole and your business and customers in particular.

So there’s no point in you or I speaking at all... it seems others understand now what I’ve said about “suggested by the manufacture”sooo I don’t know the people to trust on here for info so there’s something else to think about when people offer advice... if I don’t know someone’s credibility then I can see it as being like forums where people just toss out conflicting statements ... this is also the install section... look at pictures... who cares how I shoot a stupid video (going back the the first comments so you may understand my frustration when it’s just a damn video so don’t comment).

What some also need to understand is I’m kinda new to the group and I don’t know who I should trust... right? Look at other forums that people just spit out crap lol all I know is what I’m told from the manufacture and I try to go over and above for my clients.

If that turn out to be true, that would be disappointing.

No, it’s not. It’s the testing section. Nobody really dinged you for that, though.

who cares how I shoot a stupid video (going back the the first comments so you may understand my frustration when it’s just a damn video so don’t comment).
I’m sorry you got your feelings hurt by someone giving you the thumbs down on YouTube and us speculating on why. I understand that when you’re new to something, you can be sensitive about it, but I hope you’re able to grow from feedback.

I’m kinda new to the group and I don’t know who I should trust...
Hopefully you’re at least passingly familiar with @Vortex who is not only respected around here but well known across the industry and enthusiast community for his long history of videos and testing results. And when everyone offers the same feedback, especially here where so many perspectives differ, then you can generally not even consider the status of the individuals when the group as a whole is unified in their recommendations.

No matter what happens, I and others have said repeatedly that your work is beautiful, and I hope you’ll stick around and get even better.

Can you provide any proof of this where a person was fined for speeding by applying the brakes alone?
I think some LEO’s get pissed if you don’t slow down when it’s obvious you were speeding and the LEO is clearly visibly enforcing. And they will more likely not go after you if you show some respect. They don’t like arrogance or ignorance.

Honestly with this whole Covid crap 💩 going on we’ve been busier than ever and I’m tired AF ... I need a vacation but I do out my clients and company I work for first ... probably be another couple months until I can get vacation time so I’ve been a bit snappy to judge. I apologize to all ... this RSQ8 client is bringing me another RA’AM shortly and I’ll have to remove the ALP/Radenso from his 2020 RA’AM that I’ve already removed and installed from his 2019 RA’AM... ugh 🤦 I could RAMble on forever lol. I’ll stay longer... thank you for these replies. Just trying to get used to the forum and setup still.

I’m a newb here, too. The installation that you’ve presented inspires us DIYer hacks to do a better job. Partly because of you post, I oredered an ALP jammer setup. Welcome to the forum!
