You know what's weird though? Different manufacturers may say different things. Some say it's best to install WS mount RD's up high, some in the middle, some low. Which one is right? Which suggestion is best?Great read and I hate reading lol. I was always just following manufactures recommendations but I’m getting attacked for listing to the manufacturers lol. [...] I’ve been in this industry for 27yrs and have only been installing these systems for the past 2yrs again mentioning following what the manufacture tells me so that’s what I trust
What about angling your RD? On Escort's website they have a photo of the RL360c aimed up for some reason.
Yet testing shows that if you aim your detector up or down, you'll see a pretty decent drop in range.
Should you forgo proper installation techniques because of marketing/promo material?
Every manufacturer (ALP, Escort, K40) says they're great at jamming the DragonEye, but testing shows some pretty big differences and there's a reason you choose to install ALP's and not just blindly follow what every manufacturer tells you, yes?
It'd be great if everything that manufacturers told us was true 100% of the time. Then there'd be no need to think critically or test things for ourselves.
Sure, that stuff is awesome. I personally love seeing great installs and I learn a lot seeing how you approach this. This is one area that I'm not very good at and so I learn a lot from experts like you. Hopefully you can also be open minded enough to listen to others who may have more knowledge and experience than you in other areas.I’ll be leaving this group but Austin will probably still post my work here. I came here thinking it would be fun to show off that a shop actually does take the time to install the sensors properly and modules above spec... adding the covers and testing every install before it leaves back to the client to insure they get what they’re wanting I thought was going to be a plus.
If you'd like to listen to manufacturers though and take their word on everything, I suppose that's your choice too.
