As many of you know, I have thought my V1G2's front laser sensor has not been working since I bought it. This was based on the V1G2's rear sensor detecting my laser tester from any distance I shot it from, including very close range, but my front sensor not doing the same. So I was closing in on my end of warranty period, and reached out to Valentine Research this week. The first lady I talked to was quite pleasant, listened to my problem description, and said she was going to connect me to tech support. I talked to a lady in tech support, who asked some questions about the problem, and said I should send it in for examination. So I was transferred back to the first lady, who took my information and promised to email a mailing label to me. The label email came fairly shortly thereafter.

I boxed up my detector and hurried over to Fedex to see if I could get it in before the last pickup. As luck would have it, I did get there in time. This was Tuesday. I left thinking it will probably be next week before I get my detector back. After I got home, I went to my PC to go check that my parcel was in the Fedex system, and see if it had an expected delivery date. It was in the system, and to my surprise, the expected delivery date said 10:30 am the next day. I wondered if that was correct, thinking surely it was being shipped by ground. Checked the next morning, and it said my detector was already at a fedex facility in Indianapolis, and scheduled for 10:30 am delivery that day. So nice surpise number 1: Valentine's shipping label was for next day delivery.

So it was delivered and I didn't think much more about it because I was busy. So Thursday morning, I get a call from a number in Ohio, and it is an engineer from Valentine. He explained to me that he had tested my detector on their test setup, even taken a drive with it and was hit by actual laser, and everything seemed to be working fine with the front sensor. We discussed how it didn't alert to my laser tester, and some potential reasons why it might not, including being to close to the RD and some filtering algorithms that apparently are different between the front and rear sensors. I haven't had access to a real lidar gun and tested from a distance, so if a Valentine engineer says its working, honestly that's good enough for me. So nice surprise number 2: the Valentine engineer reached out to me personally to make sure to explain what they had found and let me know how they had tested.

So as we finish up the call, I say, well I guess I owe Valentine for the shipping since there didn't turn out to be a problem after all. The engineers says, "Nope, says right here it's under warranty. We'll be sending it back to you today." So nice surprise number 3: Even though nothing ended up being broken, Valentine didn't charge me a thing.

I got my detector back yesterday. Nicely boxed and protected by Valentine's detector fitting foam, like it comes from the factory. Round tripped in 3 days. So nice surprise number 4: Even the return shipping was overnight.

All in all, that is the best warranty experience I can remember having ever had, bar none. I know its easy for people to post and complain when their experience is less than ideal. I just wanted to post and give Valentine major kudos for my experience. Couldn't have gone better.

That’s really awesome customer service. So many customer service reps make things so difficult and make you feel like you’re in the wrong just for reaching out. Glad to see VR treating customers with respect and doing their best to ensure a positive experience.

Fantastic warranty experiance with Valentine! So glad you shared. Nice to see something so positive happen when so many other companies offer the opposite. (not speaking of any radar detector companies here)

I got the same treatment when I sent my V1G2 in for the no start issue a few months ago. They could not have been more courteous and I had it back in just a few days even though there was a weekend involved! There's no way they could have done any better and my V1G2 is still killing it for me!

@Brainstorm69 , when I had your detector, I was able to get the front and rear to alert to my DEs.... only the TSS was not reporting, and I and @Kennyc56 have that same issue.

Thanks for the confirmation. :) The TSS sounds like something maybe Valentine can fix with a FW update.

Glad it went well for you @Brainstorm69. I had a similar experience when I sent mine in for the faceplate delamination. Fast shipping to and from and the problem corrected quickly.

We occasionally get the new member who seemingly joined to complain about an experience. At RDF the CM enthusiasts will post their great experiences as well. VR has always treated me well. They once repaired a unit gratis that was wayyy out of warranty. That one cost me a ticket from a K band Stalker with zero alert.
Through product and service they have earned my loyalty. I'll buy a G3 even if it arrives after Theia!

Remember how we all loved the V1G1 because it seemed to be as tough as an Army tank and with no issues? That's how I felt about mine anyway! Knock on wood I feel the same way now about my V1G2! All it does now is kick @ss for me every day along with JBV1! I know it still needs some work on K band, but that can be fixed with a firmware update. It might explode on me now that I said this, but I love not worrying about it anymore! BTW, this thing still blows my mind on anything to do with Ka band after almost 1 year!

And that's how you build a loyal customer base that keeps you in business even during tough times.

So simple yet so many businesses don't get it.

Good on you for sharing kudos.

Agreed! I have been exclusively V1 since Mike left Escort and started VR. I have probably had 3-4 versions through the years. Usually 2 of each.(Wife and me) I think only once did I have to have a unit repaired out of warranty for I think $75? No in warranty repairs. 🤞 :)

Always quick friendly service.
