Quick press menu button once, then scroll through menu backwards a few steps, if voice is on it will talk along, then hit menu again when on Factory Reset.
I think it will announce it.

Hit menu and then hit the "-" button 8 times and you should be at factory reset. Then hit the Menu button again.

EDIT: Oops. I missed that YelloEye already provided this info.

Be careful what you wish for. In my town, I have an even mix of K & Ka. I've found that K band stunts your growth, makes your hair fall out, reduces brain function, dulls the paint on your vehicle, and makes the sky cloudy, with just enough drizzle to make you have to use the intermittent wipers.
In other words, makes life miserable.
Hahahahahaha. Soooo F'n TRUE my friend !!

I hope I've come to the right place with my questions. I've had my R7 for a couple of weeks now. After running Hwy/factory settings for a few days I switched to @Vortex recommended settings. But I left rear at 100% as well as K at 100%. It was so quiet that I decided to do a factory reset.
It seems I lost my auto lock outs, is that correct?
Not one laser hit, does that seem normal? V1 would false daily .
When in Hwy Mode, is it back on completely factory settings, ie...reset? Or are the filters that were switched on still on? TIA

Factory reset sets all settings and filters back to factory.
If you didn't change firmware to something other than 135, you will still have all your lockouts saved, factory reset or updates don't erase them.

Go through your settings and try these:
My Settings F135:
  • Menu: Expert
  • Highway on open roads and while doing lockouts, Advanced w/ K band at 50% for most driving, or City when in extreme K zones
  • Rear Bal: 80%

  • Speed Camera: On
  • Speed C Range: Auto
  • Red light Cam: On

  • All Threat: On
  • Color: Blue & Amber (White on motorbike)

I
Changing between hwy, advanced and city only affects sensitivity. All your settings stay the same.

In the year and a half I've owned my R7, I've never received/detected a laser hit. My Redlne-O by comparison will give me a laser false every so often. I've noticed riding/driving under a tree canopy with mottled sun & shade on the road sets my Redline off pretty consistently.

You won't affect Ka with those settings.
Just make sure in advanced you leave Ka at 100%, and leave Ka Filter off.
All the rest is affecting K Band.
Other than Rear Antenna %, which affects everything for rear reception.

That's something you're going to have to weigh. You should still get valid K, and possibly K BSM falses either way. Just depends on how sensitive you need the detector to be.

Nothing of significance will be lost with those.
Your biggest affect on warning range is the K % sensitivity.
Highway is always 100%.
Set your Advanced to 40 - 50%
City is supposed to be 18%
These are settings that don't give a true picture.
An R7 at 40-50% has as much or more range than nearly every premium detector on their highway maximum range settings.
R7 is very sensitive.
Even City mode beats out some highway modes and definitely beats out City/Auto modes of other brands.

Basically, I advise that each user run as much sensitivity as comfortable, giving a pleasurable drive based on how much tolerance they have for false alerts.
If your detector is fine at Highway, go with that.
Or adjust Advanced up or down until satisfied with the result, knowing even if K 40% is where you end up, you still have excellent protection.

One tip: Try highway mode on firmware 135 as long as possible to help with Auto lockouts, and manual Lockouts.
A week or two on your regular routes should make the detector quieter, that you only notice BSMs.
Then reduce to Advanced xx% for an even quieter ride.
It takes some time to get your detector all set up in an area.
Have fun!
