I've reverted back to 1.33 and immediately gained back my MRCT performance. It looks like I will need to wait until they figure out how to increase MRCT performance with auto-lockouts. But it is good to know that Uniden is actively working on issues and new features.
I wonder how this slipped passed the beta testers.

When you had the new fw loaded, did you try just turning auto lockouts off to see if it made any difference in MRCT detection range?

Having issues opening the file for 1.35 on Mac OS Big Sur. Getting error msg "unable to expand R7...., it is an unsupported format". Anyone else run into this issue. I have the latest Mac tool that was released last month.

You are using the installer to select the .bin file correct? Then after pointing the installer to the .bin when you click download you get the error or is it at a different point? You aren’t trying to open the .bin file outside of the installer are you?

I am also having problem installing the latest update on my R7. I previously installed the CP20X Driver as well as the Legacy Mac VP Driver and get the same error message oversteer325 is getting. I am new to this - I just want to make sure that when I attach the USB cable to the R7 nothing shows on the unit itself - not powered on. I downloaded the R7_135.142.115 zip file and when I click on that get the error message.

Great question, @DC Fluid are you a beta tester being up in MRCD land? Just trying to keep track of who's who when I'm digesting info being shared to the community. I see MRCT, would have noticed this in 5min.

If this behavior was picked up immediately by regular folks it's safe to imagine it wouldn't be a surprise to folks playing with multiple beta copies as they test for Uniden. This wasn't a pump and dump release process, many have been waiting. Unless Uniden has no one beta testing who sees any MRCD/CT at all...

I think certain compromises should be shared with the community, or delay the release? My ethics class comes to mind from back in the day. This last sentence pertains not to DC Fluid.

Installing updates on the Uniden detectors is awful. (And I’m very tech savvy). I wish they would make it easier. The Escort models are so much easier to update
Agree that Unidens can be a problem to update. But they're also the only RD company that will let you update or downdate fw if you don't like what you just updated to. I'll take a less than optimal update experience and the ability to downdate over an optimal update experience but no ability to return to previous versions of fw if you don't like what you just updated to.

But agree that they could make it better.

Nope, not a Beta tester, just an RDF addict.
Every result, test or discovery I post is from my own personal experiences up here all alone, me, myself and I.
MRCD/CT is slowing creeping into BC, my city has escaped so far.
I travel to Alberta a couple times a year so I like having that option to dial in for GP, PR, Edmonton and Calgary when I'm there.

They should surely utilize your knowledge & talents, and grab a fellow who's willing & exposed to MRCD/CT! I've been told it's a big selling feature by some!

I’m not having an issue installing. I was just trying to help @F87 by better understanding his issue. If your error happens when you try to unzip the file it doesn’t sound like it’s driver related.
Also, the detector shouldn’t light up or appear powered on during a firmware update so that’s not a problem.

I have really limited access to MRCD/CT at this time.
I believe Edmonton members are best suited for trying out firmwares as access is plentiful.
All this should be of great interest to Ontario members, as there has been an explosion of speed cameras there, and a huge population so I'm surprised not to see dozens or hundreds of members here.
The fact that detectors are illegal there may really be dampening participation, as we Canadians are all polite law abiding citizens, right? ;)

I have the BestBuy extended 2 warranty that was set to expire next month. So I thought I would exchange my almost 2 year R7 for a new one and instal this huge update fresh and did. I my new exchanged R7 home in the box, immediately updated it, tweaked the settings to mimic my old R7's, and now it's as fresh as a daisy with the new update. The bonus is BestBuy extended the 2 year warranty all over again (by mistake) and didn't charge me!!! So by that time Uniden re-makes the R7 and I'll trade this one in for the new R8! It's been a nice Sunday!

Here's to hoping that the R7 is still CX-5 proof after they fix MRCD(t). I'm kicking myself for not buying one when they were crazy cheap on Amazon a few weeks ago. Really appreciate how Uniden continues product improvement on a RD that's been out a few years.

On will totally block any signal in the frequency range, no matter what the strength. So if an actual LEO signal is detected in the frequency range, it will not give you any indication.

Mute will show you visually (but give no audible warning) of an alert in the frequency range. So if a signal is detected in the range, and you notice the visual, you can monitor the visual signal strength to determine whether it might be a LEO

Weak will give you an audible and visual alert once the signal passes the signal strength threshold. This gives you an audible alert as well as a visual alert beyond the threshold. The audible should catch your attention for stronger signals that may be a LEO rather than a BSM.
At some point in next few weeks, make sense to check out “weak” setting dealing with the RDF view of looking out for quick draw McGraw QTs? Wondering how those will show up at various on the street ranges? With a tough K system. Seems like many users are gravitating to the weak verses “on”. This is my thought for now once I upgrade.

Does this “weak” setting only affect the certain Problematic BSM frequencies? Assuming so, would be nice to see how going this route works with a real police radar inside these ranges. Both C/O and “QT”. The point of this feature is to catch real radar on these frequencies. Verses “on” which blocks anything in these frequency ranges.

How effective are the two “weak” setting when having overall R7 K set at say 30-40% at seeing radar? NOT being picky here. I do agree with wanting to catch some sporadic real radar, not have it blocked out. Other detectors are getting slammed based on impressions in this area.

As beta tester, you have or will have data coming on this thought? Are you (or anyone) able to tune one of the tough K radar in possession into these frequencies and test (I only have HR)? would be cool to do the test stand alone, and with adding a BSM offender within range of the R7.

Finally got to drive by some of the MRCD cameras in NYC on my usual routes. 135 is only alerting after passing the cameras now, instant full blast. Basically useless. Sometimes not even an alert at all.

Clearly a big delay from previous 133 which would pick these cameras up a couple hundred feet in advance(as long as there was a car that travelled past it)
Crap...

Does any of your “auto lockouts” before reverting back stay as manual lockouts? Or do they go away on 1.33?

Awesome! Glad to see they're releasing this update!

Here's the changelog and then some detailed info about all the new features.

1. Auto mute memory is added. “Auto mute memory” shows on the screen for 2sec when a signal is auto locked out and saved in the memory.

2. The name of K Block Filter(24.199 +-5MHz) is changed to “K Block1 Filter” and new options(Weak/Mute) are added (on/weak/mute/off)
  • On(default) – Block all signals within 24.199 +-5MHz
  • Weak – Block weak signals only
  • Mute - 'Blocked' icon is displayed
  • Off - Filter disabled
3. New K Block2 Filter(24.168 +-2MHz) is added with the options (On/weak/mute/off). The default is On.

4. K band reactivity delay (K band gun with Quick trigger mode) is improved.

5. Arrow Display feature is improved to avoid changing the Arrow direction too frequently.

6. Alert distance options for Speed Camera Alert are changed. You can see the Alert distance options below when you set Speed Camera Alert to ON in the Menu.

v1.35 : 300m(1000ft), 600m(2000ft), 760m(2500ft), 900m(3000ft), Auto

7. The text “Bogey Tone” in the Menu is changed to “Ka Bogey Tone”.

8. Pass chime(one beep) is added to the POI alert. The R7 will announce a pass chime when the car passes the camera (POI) in the database.

and then my website post here with a bunch more detailed info:

and here's my video now available going over the changes and how they work:

Awesome. Didn't know until I saw your video on YT. Thanks!

I think WE are the "public Beta" testers. Thats why we get dibs on RDF. The primary beta testers are the equivalent of Apple's development beta testers.
It wouldn't surprise me if Uniden fine tunes this prior to putting it on their own site.

I agree with you. It does look like we are the "public, unofficial beta testers". Not seeing this firmware version on their website made me realize that this really is a "Beta" version if not, it should be posted there. Nonetheless, I am gonna give it a try. Thanks to the "insiders" of this forum.
