Two 5.0's race right by a cop

Was leaving a car event last weekend and had a 5.0 that wanted to run me. I was driving while eating so I smiled and held up my burger. He pulls up next to another 5.0 and they slow down to about 30.....I got a front row seat to this one.... they both take off and haul azz right by a cop coming the other way.
Here I am with a RD and LI and nothing goes off, and.... the cop never even turned around!
Unbelievable they were lucky
I got it on dashcam, should probably post it

He has his priorities, maybe he had to poop or he was in route to see his stripper girlfriend. Maybe he was about to go off shift, or maybe he was a car guy too and wondered who would win.

very lucky... if those were stock that cop wouldnt have much trouble catching them.

What's a 5.0, the GPA of the drivers?
There's the 5.0 pushrod, some (including mine) that are now sporting a bit more than the original 302 CI. Mine is now a 5.4 LX but not to be confused with the SOHC. Then there's the 5.0 Coyote. Either has a nice howl but the Coyote howls at the moon stock from the factory. Either is wonderful.

If they were pushrod 5.0's maybe! Coyote 5.0's, even bone stock however he wouldn't have a chance in hell of running them down, at least without their radios!

If they were pushrod 5.0's maybe! Coyote 5.0's, even bone stock however he wouldn't have a chance in hell of running them down, at least without their radios!
Did any pushrod 5.0 ever feel adequate in a half-ton? Maybe if someone put a really well tuned turbo or supercharger kit on it. Coyote makes well over 400 out of the box on BS gas with manners like Mr. Rogers unless you push it. If you could get 400 naturally aspirated out of the original, that probably wouldn't be on 93 and with a rumpity rump mechanical roller cam and a bunch of compression. It'd be a pain on the street. That sweet coyote fells right at home in a half-ton. Glorious in the Stang. Toss on the Roush or Ford blower kit and it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.

I've built a ton of 347's that felt WAY more than adequate but like you said, big aluminum heads, .650" solid roller cam on a 106 deg. lobe separation degreed in at 102, and I still think my 2013 BOSS 302 will give it all it wants on 93! Then you can turn the AC on and drive it to Arizona from NC like we have! My 5.0 "Road Runner" engine as Ford calls it has CNC ported heads, better rods and pistons and different cams than a standard 5.0 from the factory! And then there's that crazy Boss 302 intake! I also run the red track key from Ford and after you open up the exhaust and run a good air filter in the factory ram air box that key sets it on fire! Technology has come a long damn ways since I built all of those crazy @ss 8500 rpm 357 cu. inch Clevelands! I still miss banging my full manual C4 into high gear at 8500 and spraying that 175 horse kit breaking the rear tires loose and hanging on till the end of the quarter mile however!

How about my 1970 Boss 302?
That's one of my favorite cars of all time! Those little engines were VERY underated and downright angry!
