Wouldn’t it be awesome if there was a detector that just filtered out all BSM’s and didn’t have a bunch of settings to tweak just to just get the damn thing quiet enough for your environment that you don’t ignore it but not kneecapped to an extent that it doesn’t alert to a real threat? 😎

Yeah it's seeming like the filtering we're seeing added is doing some weird things.

I wish it was as black and white as saying "This detector with these settings fully eliminates falses from CX-5's or speed signs or whatever" but it's like we're sort of in an intermediate area where it's trying to do some more filtering, but it's only somewhat successful.

As long as it works fine against police radar like you said, then I hope we continue to see further development and refinement here.
So I have to extract my foot from mouth.
The speed sign I observed the Redline 360c filtering out, apparently today the Max 360c does too.
The speed sign has had a frequency drift more than anything I've seen in it's 20 years.
I needed to enable K segment 4 to get the alert.
Sign moved from 24.048-24.052 from year round temperature drift, to yesterday and today it is at 24.036.
Someone must have done something to it lately.

I have more observations but this isn't the thread.
BSMs were good today, but noticing several unidentified K beeps, it picks up different stuff and locations than the R7. So in time lockouts should make it really quiet.

I'm sort of amazed right now that I have the RL360c, R7, Max360c, DualPro 360, that I'm driving them around in the city on Highway mode and enjoying the most pleasurable experiences ever.
If I decide to reduce sensitivity on any, I'll need to shoot a radar gun once an hour to make sure nothing's locked up! :D

Surprisingly the RL360c (1.7) wouldn't false no matter what I did. At first I thought it was just the Escort thing not alerting to any signals at startup so I tried starting the detector and blocking the horns for a while. We tried starting the detector with the CX-5 off and then only starting when the RL had been running for a while. Detectors generally did better with driveby testing than when sitting behind the car, but the RL didn't false at any point. (This is with the RL in Highway mode, K SW off, K segs 1-3 on, TSF off, MRCD on, and MRCT off. I didn't try changing any of those settings.)
Sounds like a $749 justification for me!! Let me run and share the news with the missus...she'll be sooo proud. :)

I swung this one by the wife after testing, was not exactly happy with the idea. She actually didn't even want one in the CX5, but we do road trips in it so it makes way more sense to be in that of all things.

I have just returned from a 2000 mile round trip to CA and back going through Salt Lake City and Reno alternating between 3 top detectors. I put the R7 to work leaving Reno on the return portion and ran it all the way back to Colorado or about 812 miles. At first it was annoying with K-band junk to the point that I was going to pull it. Then on the morning of April 7th in SLC I pulled out a copy of @DC Fluid's settings posted March 2, 2021:

"My settings for success: (Note I did most of this on firmware 133, but it appears 135 has been similar for me)
K Narrow
K Filter On
TSF On
MRCD On
Rear Horn 80%
Both K Blocks Weak
Advanced 40% when not on open highway
All POP modes off
Quiet Ride 30 mph
MRCD QR On"

These settings really made all the difference. The R7 behaved with no more junk K-band from the junction of I-80 and south down I-15 through heavy SLC traffic to Green River Utah and east on into Colorado. All I got were 5 legitimate Ka-band alerts. I ran Highway mode all the way.

Thank you @DC Fluid

You're welcome!
I'm glad to see any success for us here on RDF in getting the best out of our RDs.
I hope you had a safe and enjoyable trip!

Is 24.160 usually Chrysler van BSMs? I see those pushing through here and there.

24.160 & 24.168 have lots of offenders from Chrysler, as well as other brands.
