What kind of vehicle you have?
2021 Porsche Macan GTS

Do you want a remote mount or windshield mount detector?
Remote Mount

What's your budget?
$2750

Where do you live and where do you primarily drive?
Live in Northern NJ; Daily Commute is 9 miles on 4 lane highway through several towns. Travel to Connecticut on interstate highways once a month. When pandemic is over will be driving in to NYC, Southwest NJ into PA and general Tri-state area.

How do you drive?
Not too aggressively, on Highway 10-15 MPH over Speed Limit.

What is your daily drive like?
9 mile fairly straight drive through several towns. Lots of lights - 40-50 mph limits

How long you have been using countermeasures, if at all?
Used to use all the time. Had Escort Passport Max in BMW X4; for past 3 years didn’t use in Benz E400 Coupe.

What is the terrain like where you normally drive?
Pretty straight, not too hilly, unless taking interstate 287 North/South. Lots of hiding places for troopers.

Are there red light and/or speed cams in your area?
Yes

Do you need / prefer a GPS enabled unit?
Yes

Are you willing/do you want to use your phone to pair with the RD?
No

Do you face MRCD and/or MRCT in your area?
Unsure

If you have any preconceived notions or thoughts about RDs, please tell us how long you've been using RDs or other units? etc. -- or any other relevant info you think might be important, let us know that as well.
Looking for a clean install. Don’t want to advertise that I have RD. Have researched this site, spoken with a couple of local Retailers/installers. Looked at Escort and the new K40 Platinum setups. I’m aware that K40 has a bad reputation on here. Open to all recommendations. I realize that the price can go up quickly when you add front/back lasers. Don’t want overkill, but would like good protection. As for phone interface, I really don’t care - I’m good with tech stuff; but the easier to operate, the better. I’m not interested in continuous tweaking. Thanks for your help!

Alps and Radenso RCM
Thru RADENSO.com. BOTH REMOTEs.

Arrows Long Distance Super Quiet to Falses
Clean and flawless integration. Fully Customizable. But considerably more than your budget.

Within your budget
ALPS Lazer Remote
or
Radenso RCM Remote

Depends on your needs.

I think you can get Net Radar Front Only snd ALPS Front Only for you budget.
@BestRadarDetectors ???

Now you can do V1G2, RL360c, or R7 Windshield Mount

Anyways those are my .02 cents.

Doing a strictly remote detector only, I agree with @benzr . The Radenso RCM is the route I would take. Get both front and rear. You can even remove the faceplate of the controller when you leave the car, like they used to do with car stereo systems. In the very near future, you should give some serious thought on laser protection. Radar detectors won't save from a laser hit, and whether you know or not laser is used in your area.

If you're going to go with a remote system, I completely agree with @benzr and @RadarScout. The Escort Max Ci 360 will have a little better range and I thought the filtering was a little better than the RCM as well, but the ability to adjust things on the RCM is much better than the Escort. Additionally, the RCM will probably be a better option for some of the things you're likely going to deal with when you start traveling into the city.

Last two things. As the others have also mentioned, detectors only work against radar so if you want laser protection, consider ALP's. But buyer beware :), it gets very expensive. I spent $4000-5000 on some of my remote installs (radar & laser). I like remote systems but they are very expensive compared to windshield mounts!

Thanks everyone! I see what you’re saying about the Radenso RCM. The problem is that most Qualified Radenso installers are at least an hour from me. There is a local Qualified Escort installer (the Porsche dealer sends all of their custom installs there). I’ve visited that dealer and the shop and retail area are clean - dealer seems extremely knowledgeable. I agree that lasers are a must. Perhaps they could be added later. Another option is to go with one of the windshield mounted RD’s such as the Escort Redline 360 or RCM Pro, use a Blendmount from the mirror and get it hard wired. I would be interested in your thoughts on that approach - also can the ALP lasers be added to with either of those? Which would you recommend? Thanks!

You can make a pretty strong argument for a windshield detector. You can upgrade it much easier and 2021 might offer up a really cool one from Radenso. I would drive the hour to the Radenso installer in a heart beat!

I wouldn't let that impact you at all. If they do good work, stop by and ask them for an estimate and order the RCM from Radenso if you go with a remote detector. My guess is that they'll be more than happy to take your cash. I'm pretty certain that they've installed many other brands besides Escort in the past.

If you're fine with a windshield detector and not worried about someone breaking a window to steal it, I'd go that route and use your money for a jammer system. Just one opinion.

That is a really good idea! I’ve got nothing to lose by asking! Thanks for your advice!
