Hello @AJL and welcome aboard RDF!

I’m not sure what your device is, but I would recommend starting a new thread in the “General Radar Detector Discussion” subsection to allow even more RDF members to see it and possibly comment.

Welcome aboard! I'm not sure that's a radar detector. Maybe post in general with more pics?

@AJL , Welcome to the Forum from Tennessee!! If you have more photos, please upload them. I know in the mid to late 1980’s Whistler had some basic and simple X and K band detectors, but I cannot remember if they had any “basic” and entry level remote detectors.

Hopefully it still works too!
Back in the day, the Whistler Spectrum was a great radar detector. It was their top of the line detector. This is the remote version. I forgot they made a remote model. It is X and K band detector (no Ka), but hopefully it still works.

I used to have the dash/portable Whistler Spectrum in the early to mid 1980’s, and it was a great performer and saved my @$$ regularly too.

What does the switch do on the remote? Seems to be 3 postions top, middle and bottom. Any way to test it and see if it works?

@MurrayB , do you remember what the 3 different switch positions were for? @AJL , on the Whistler Q2000 (my RDF avatar) which was similar to the dash model Spectrum (a few less external features), it has a 3 position switch for off, on, and filter.

If you don’t have a radar gun, you can try driving up to an X or K-band door opener at a store and see if it alerts. If I remember correctly, I don’t think the Spectrum had different tones for X and K-bands.
