Radar Detector Recommendation for C8ulater

Chicago suburbs, lots of interstate.

How do you drive?
I’m always 9 over but with the right rabbit the sky’s the limit.

What is your daily drive like?
Lots of highway.

How long you have been using countermeasures, if at all?
On and off for years but pretty much a novice at this point

What is the terrain like where you normally drive?
Pretty flat

Are there red light and/or speed cams in your area?
Yes

Do you need / prefer a GPS enabled unit?
Yes

Are you willing/do you want to use your phone to pair with the RD?
Yes

What kind of device do you own or would use for your detector?
iOS

Do you face MRCD and/or MRCT in your area?
Unsure

I’m currently using an escort 360 (my sons)
If I can’t have the controller look like an OEM install than I’m ok with a power tap from the rear view mirror and blend mount ( if they ever come out for the C8) I’d really like to have anti laser capability but buying a unit I can integrate laser with later would be good. I put my limit at 2k but I’d be willing to go more if I could do it in stages. I love this car but damn it’s so easy to drop a grand here and there on upgrades. Thanks in advance for the advice and ideas. I will take installer suggestions as well. I’m in the Chicagoland area South suburbs, south of I80

You do have a good bit of photoradar in the Chiraq area. @cihkal how do you counter that threat? ILSP like LIDAR so an ALP system would be good and in your budget. I'm a fan of the V1G2 and I think you could do both within that budget if you self install. My ALP equipped car also has front/rear NRDSP and it works nicely with excellent detection range typically just under that of G2. Every so often the NRDSP knocks one off before the G2. But the G2 regularly gets moonsniffs that the NR doesn't alert to for another quarter or more miles.

Also, you can use ALP with iOS but you'd be best off to find a midrange droid for JBV1 with the V1. I carry a second phone for this and it's worth it to me.

I’ve used Waze and that works well.

Currently trying Apple Maps to de-Google my life as much as possible; it was newly updated with RLCs and speed cams.

Nice budget. I would get one of the detectors recommended here but definitely get front and rear ALP heads. I've been in IL a few times and saw a ton of laser usage

I’ve watched a lot of vortex, that’s why I’m looking at ALP. At the same time I’m trying to balance price vs performance. I’m thinking a good middle ground might be the escort redline with the escort laser shifters.

if anyone wants to sponsor my car I’d be more than willing to show off the system......I know wishful thinking.

Just read that you can’t put an ALP transmit Sensor lower than 22 inches, I’m guessing the sensor won’t be an option on the front.

Alright I,m by no means set on installing the ALP but it’s looking a little more reasonable if I forgo the Radenso radar system with it. So the question now is sensor placement. I’ve read the vortex guide and feel like mounting the sensors in the area of the outside grills might be to far out and back. Curious to see what everyone thinks. I’m figuring 3 rx sensors as the top of the hood is only 20 inches from the ground and I’m in Illinois so no dragoneye yet.

No Scortshifters ... period IMHO.

WHAT RD did you decide ??

I loooove my RCM and Radar Mirror, BUT admittedly they sre pricy.

You may need s V placement on this.

2 Rx inside grill as you said either side and a LOWER RX In the Middle in a V pattern.
They shoot the Tag area. Dunno how that will protect the Lights though

Not sure which radar detector, I may decide to run an escort windshield mount. Looking at my front end it sits pretty damn low, which if I understand things that I’ve read here, higher is going to be better.
I love the integrated Radenso detector but damn they are proud of that system. Part of me says I’m going to have to pull my car apart anyways....I might as well,

I’d love to see where/how folks are mounting a third diffuser in the center. My car comes to quite the point in the front.
