I finally got around to doing a hardwire installation of my R7. There is nothing special here. I just wanted to encourage others who have an unsightly curly cord like I did to step up and make it look good!

Looks good.

Is the windshield textured where the cup is attach? If so, do you have a problem with it not staying up? Thanks

Yes, I have the cup attached to the textured portion. I just moved it up there yesterday and haven't driven it yet. I'll let you know if it stays up!

Did the same in my 2015 King Ranch, but with a BlendMount under the rearview mirror. The curly cord is lame.

Blendmount works great in the F150. You should take a look at it.
I like that idea and left a little slack to be able to mount a Blendmount at a later date.

I bought my daughter an R3 for Christmas. She just got a used 2019 VW Jetta and hates the curly cord. We are thinking about hardwiring her detector now that she's seen mine.

@Bumster I've driven over some pretty awful Louisiana roads the last couple of days and the detector is very solid mounted on the textured part.

Love where you put the mute console. I could never find a practical use for that small place!
