DP360: How’s Ka Off-Axis & I/O Reactivity?

How is the DP360 when it comes Ka quick trigger and I/O reactivity - along with Ka OFF-Axis sensitivity/range???

I know not many people have used the DP360 in their CM tests but from your experience(s), how do you think it ranks in those areas?

I ask because I’m primarily in Ka territory (Southern California) and having an RD that exceeds in Ka performance is obviously crucial in my driving situation.

I know it’s not going to be up there with the V1G2, Redline, Uniden R3/R7 - but is it far off? Is it worth owning the DP360 for Ka detection (besides C/O) or am I better looking at the above mentioned options?

Just trying to decide if it’s viable to keep the DP360 or return it within the 30-day period if it’s a poor Ka performer. I guess I should have asked this question pre-purchase but live and learn!

In my experience and with what others have observed and posted, Reactivity on all fronts is good.
Range wise K and Ka, your probably in a near dead heat for best of the rest below the R Series, V1G2, Rl350c, and maybe Max 3 but that one is flawed right now.
The best of everything else is close and only the release of Extreme Range detectors like when R3 came out did range take a big jump. Remember it's based on Escorts top of the line until the recent RL360, so it's not weak.
Off axis I feel the DualPro and Max series take a bit of a hit, by purposely design, when very off axis or heavy foilage is involved. In an urban environment I don't see much penalty, it does good.

IMO, if you don't have K band, aren't going to hardly drive where K Band is, and just would rather turn it off or really really mute it, the DualPro will do a very good job, but your wasting the best part of it which is handling K Band BSM and Autolocking stationary sources.
If you want to disable K band you could go R3, R7, V1G2, or even R1 and get that extreme Ka performance.
I personally would go with a GPS enabled unit so you could use camera locations, K Band muting and lockouts if you travel away from your main area.
You must be darn sure K Band threats are not in your area if turning it off.
Tough thing trying to choose your perfect fit for detector.
Do what most do here, buy most of them and have that agonizing decision to make every day!

Recently was over in OH running on the Al Capone US 30 four lane. Plus a few two lane OH state highways. Massive I/O attempts by multiple OH storm troopers running 35.5 area. Saved me multiple times. They were far out quick hit I/O. Was using the GT 360. Once I cleared the V8 G90 throat out passing three vehicles on two lane. Finishing the pass, the I/O type alert hits. Had plenty of time to slow down. He was way out there hitting people while he was driving opposite direction during some gentle bends in wooded area.

I have not taken the device into a basement lab set up. I have used both Stalkers on it. It alerted right away. Long before any typical quick trigger time needed to a real reading of speed inside the Stalkers kill zone. Standing still. I have tested Stalker (it has moving mode feature tuned on) tagging on coming traffic. The GT (or any detector I have tested), alerts inside the car long before the moving radar gets a opposite side speed read out.

On K band, similar results with the Kustom HR. When under cruise alert, it does its one beep and gray signal right away. Even in autoNoX mode. Beyond cruise speed, works the same. Highway on HR, very snappy. Certainly much faster than a HR can get a speed sitting still.

Now, IF the HR is outside the effective LEO angle limits (showing a speed way too low), in my experience different story. GT and ER Max 360 products in general fiddle with off axis. less off axis than say R7. I believe set that way to help reduce ghosted RF signals from “false“ door openers or possible BSM (multiplex distortion, where the same signal enters the horn as slight different time). I really do not know. Whatever it is, it affects K band alert indication speed when device is way off axis. Also, my Bushnell up close and off axis can be filtered out on occasion for up to one second. In the end, never had any Ka issues, or K band chaos with the GT. It runs 1.0 firmware.

I would imagine the DP is the similar. DC is tough reviewer. His DP on the newest firmware does not have issues. It is what it is. Very effective for daily use.

In my personal experience the DP360 is quite reactive to KA/IO in off-axis. My only gripe is that like any detector running the M360 architecture the range on the signal can be a bit variable (meaning the RD will latch onto it, but depending on your altitude might show a weaker signal), while driving on a bridge to school/work the DP360 will pickup a Ka signal that's on one of the roads below me, which is good because usually the cops merge onto the road after the bridge and many people get busted for speeding there (see my night video run to see what I mean) but it's not that big of a deal you slow down once you get a KA signal right? I think you'll find it will as DrHow said "save your ass" just fine . It's already paid for itself on my end!
