RL360C Firmware 1.6 Thoughts

I'll start,

Have about 350 Miles on the FW 1.6, Let me say the KA is getting close to what I have experienced with my R7s, Had a 34.7 with a customer over 3 miles on Mdot road, Ramp up was spot on, I'm driving another 400 mile round trip to Detroit in the am, I have decided to sell of some of the R7s, I just don't see myself putting it back in the RS anytime soon, FW 1.6 has cleaned up more issues and the BSM is still much more redefined than the R7.

Hows everyone else liking Fw1.6 ?

I’m liking it a lot. The only thing I’m hoping for is some more fine tuning with the BSM falses. Since I drive regularly through a small town that uses mainly K, I’m still experimenting with driving in Highway vs. Auto and enabling K-notch or not. I’ve owned the detector now for about 6 months running exclusively with Auto and K-notch enabled but the full blown K alerts were making me pretty jumpy on the brakes so that’s why I’ve decided to experiment with those two settings. Keeping it in Highway appears to have eliminated the ramp up problems which seems to be helping me to not jam on the brakes with every full on K alert that I’m getting caused by BSM’s. I haven’t seen this happen yet while in Highway mode so waiting to see how an alert from the 24.19 - 24.21 range that K-notch is suppressing alerts me but is probably going to be one of those full tilt blasts when I come across it. Keeping it in Highway also is making it a bit more chatty so I don’t know now if I’m getting more BSM’s (albeit no more full alert blasts) or other stationary K falses that the detector will learn and auto-mute.

I use the same settings - HWY with K-notch on - and like you, I live in an area with KA & K band. I like using Hwy due to the fact that I have many streets that are 30mph or 35 mph and in Auto I wouldn't get the warnings I needed early enough. I keep in in frequency mode and every time I get an alert I'm making note of the frequency so I know if it's a false or not. I would love Escort to dial in the BSM's even more but I know it's a challenge since so many BSM's are in close range to legit frequencies. With so many auto manufacturers using radar frequencies in newer vehicles I don't think there will ever be a detector that is truly silent and able to react to just police radar. I know there's talk of a new and different platform coming out that promises just that so I guess time will tell. Overall, I'm very pleased with my Redline 360c and the new v1.6.

Thanks for your input and you made an interesting comment about noting the frequency which I’ve attempted to do by acknowledging a “real” threat in the EL app and then try to reference those valid K band frequencies. It would be very nice if I could download that data somehow so that I could do all kinds of sorting in an excel file for example.
