I almost got caught with my proverbial pants down a couple summers ago. I had thought K band was all but retired outside of the most rural poor counties - well outside the usual stomping grounds I frequent. Well, just outside of Portland - a bit rural but still in multnohma county, picked up K band. I assumed yet another false from another car, maybe a portable speed sign (known to be frequently in that area) when low and behold, here comes a sheriff around the corner. I decided right then and there to put up with the false alerts, pay more attention to K band away from known false areas (malls, grocery stores etc), and to pay closer attention to band frequency! YMMV but K is, imho, still a viable and persistent threat

Soon after I began using my RL360c I discovered some of the local police units are using K-band. Using proximity to an active highway speed sign is a prime location for the CSP.

Is anyone else still having directional arrow issues? I'm on the latest release and more times than not the detector will alert with the rear arrow yet I can clearly see the police coming at me on the other side of the road or sitting on the side of the road ahead. I would say 8 out of 10 times it'll show the rear arrow instead of the front.

@cuzi4343, I replied to your introductory post. Remember, version 1.7 is the most current RL360C firmware release. Additionally, what you're describing is not the normal behavior for this detector.

Definitely no issue with arrows anymore. They are extremely responsive, and correctly show the source of the radar. The only exceptions to this I have seen is when the radar is right up on you, or is bouncing off of signs/concrete up ahead. Make sure to be on 1.7 firmware. This detector overall works very well @cuzi4343

I'm less than pleased with the directional arrows on my RL 360c. They work, but not as well as V1G2 or R7. I'm on 1.7. I'm going to try to change the position on the windshield to see if that makes a difference.

I think in general, the answer is YES. I don't think it's because the RL360 is a bad RD. I really believe that Escort has managed to build a detector with so much range that if you are downtown and LEO is at local Walmart 2.0 miles away, and you have other LEO's within that 2-mile radius, the RL360 could make decisions which may confuse the user.

In my case, the out of the box display option was immediately unsatisfactory. After reading the user manual some more, I changed to Spec FR2. Made a big difference how I interpret what the display shows - I can see from front and back and I can see the frequency, which significantly helps with the relationship to arrow flips. To me that is the bottom line for my concern regarding imminent threat - something I didn't get from my V1 G2.

I think that Escort should find a way to use that range to filter out boogies closer to the user - In city/close to city mode, I don't care about boogie 2 miles away, so the AUTO mode should filter these out for driver convenience. The RL360c is really good on range, but range alone is not it.

FWIW, I had a similar issue where a known threat was in front of me and my RL360c was always showing the rear arrow. I documented this with video on several occasions and sent it in to be repaired. Come to find out, after sending it in for service they told me my front antennae was bad. It works like a champ now and the arrow transition is flawless. I would recommend sending it in for service.

Thank you, however, for me I can get some absolutely amazing range on the front antenna (points ahead), but then will go to side, then front, then rear, etc. No smooth transitions like the V1G2. I guess it is possible that one of the antennas is not functioning correctly. I am going to wait a little while before sending it in. If things don't improve with more encounters, I may just have to do that.

Could always try forcing a reflash of FW 1.7.
