Redline 360c Firmware v1.6 Release

I have found over the years that quiet is not allows good. My old Max 1 would go so quiet before I realized it stopped monitoring all together and I needed to reboot it. Sometimes a false K alert is just a sign for me that my detector is still working. I find the Redline 360 to be a lot better than my Max 360 but still a bit chatty, nothing I can't deal with...

I really wanted this to replace my V1G2 but I'm getting to an age where I don't like hearing noise...let alone full blast K Band BSM's. Plus at the price point they are wanting for the Redline it's just unacceptable to me.
Is there opportunity to improve? I sure hope so because it is a great looking device!

Maybe it’s just my RL360C, but I haven’t seen a database update on any of the Mondays since the firmware 1.6 release.

FWIW, I haven’t changed any of the settings other than needing to reactivate K-notch.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I was afraid of that.

Guess I’ll need to contact Cedar Electronics to see if there’s a problem with my account since other than the updates everything else seems to be working properly.

I'm actually glad that the firmware didn't cause any issues, but frustrated that mine stopped updating.

Maybe reconnect the WiFi again? I have issues sometimes when I change routers settings

I already performed a factory reset and then deleted EL from my iPhone and reinstalled it to see if that would help without any change.

I finally brought it inside and connected it to Escort Detector Tools and received the message that my subscription had expired (although it's still good until Oct 2021). This confirms that the problem is with Escort and their subscription database records. Several others have previously reported this in the past. Luckily, a phone call to Escort should clear it up.

Did your 360c has passed 90 days since the purchase? The free database updates only for 90 days unless you have subscribed for defender database services. (Or extended service coverage, not sure of that, but seems with mine. I have one with additional service plan, which is still receiving the database update every Monday, while other without extended service plan has stopped).

However, if you are using WiFi and connected to EL, you still get all the database info except it is not downloaded to detector itself.

Yep, those updates are VERY regular, even around holidays. I sometimes suspect they are pushed even when there are no substantive deltas in data payloads. (Kind of a "hey, here is your update, enjoy!" but thats probably just me being cynical. If I was Escort and charged for a service, and there was only a need for five updates a year, then customers may question the value of the service. : )

I run an escort (sorry now the model escapes me but it’s a bit older mid tier) an escort max 360 and a redline 360c in my own car and I can attest that the RL360 is by a good measure less chatty that the other two especially with segmentation and k-notch but it isn’t perfect and certainly no where near as good as their marketing claims. That said, I never had any expectation that would be the case, it’s pretty good but short of AI on the level Theia is aiming for I don’t know how one would ever get to a point of “no false alerts, ever”. That’s just not how the physics of radio works. IMHO

well said. as i've said, i came from the max 360, which of course is A LOT less sensitive, but i was quiet, and i never got popped with a ticket, so maybe it was sensitive enough (for me).
i'm now running highway with: full K, Xoff, Ka seg 2,5,8 plus 4,6 (which i haven't seen yet), TSR on (live in traffic sig area, (raleigh,nc), K-notch on... and the reason i do this, is to avoid the BSM punch thru's that hit so hard, in auto or auto lo-K, that it makes you believe it HAS to be legit radar, when it's not.

@BMBSALES , I run my RL360c in highway mode all of the time (as I do my R3, Max360c, and my V1G2) even in suburban and city driving as I encounter a lot of K-band where I live. My settings are almost identical to yours, except I do not have TSR on, and I am only running 2,5,8, but I have enabled 4 and 6 in the past. I also am running K-notch on, and I rarely run my Escort branded detectors in any form of Auto mode. Occasionally, I will get a full alert BSM punch through that definitely gets my attention with the K-notch on.

Also, I do not use GPS lockouts, and I have auto learn off on my Escort branded detectors. It is still quiet enough for me, and I don't run the risk encountering a real police K-band radar being locked out due to being in an area already locked out with a K-band door opener.

I run my R360c (in WI) segmented K(1,2,3 on), Ka(2,5,8), X off, TSR, Auto Learn and K-notch on. I use Waze with my RD for road trips.
I use EL most of the time for PSL only and tend to not use wifi except for defender updates. My experience is live alerts are often erroneous /old and more distracting than helpful....which is why Waze runs with my RD when I travel. If EL settings could limit alerts to no older than say 30min or 1 hr, then I might use, but as it is currently...I won't use.
I'd like to be able to use JBV1 (based on other forum comments), but not an option on iPhone. Thinking about getting a "cheap" android for the car only.

Several places on my daily route and the time I go through there, it sees the same signal from the same LEO on multiple days in a row...The one that it repeatively locked out was the weaker signal of one that set up further down the road from where I turned off and head the opposite direction on most days....One day needed to go straight through his lair and almost was rewarded with a roadside chat but luckily an eye save and knowing the area was able to slow down in time or he decided to let me slide......Not only had the R360C but the Max360Ci both had the signal locked out.....From that day forward I have only used manual lockouts.....

i def hear you on that. i've had a couple of instances of speed radar signs in a neighborhood locking out, and then as expected, LEO the next week in same spot, so i unlock those manually usually.
most of the time for me though, because it's taking 3 times or so to learn, and then they unlearn just as quick if no signal...i've been satisfied with that, and haven't had a problem. but i'm a quiet junkie...i don't want to hear noise. first week i had RL360c, i thought i would hang myself. finally just turned volume down and drove slow for a week.

Yes, I agree with that on K band. Some of the local police traffic units are using K band near a local grocery store K-band door opener.
