Guys,

I learned something new today. K narrow band 2 has all the radar guns. The rest of the narrow bands on K are useless. This helps cut down falses from doors etc. Gonna test it out for a few weeks.

Cheers,
You will actually find that the K band guns can be found throughout the entire spectrum (24.050 (or 23.950) - 24.250 GHz)

Those other bands are not useless, depending on where you live. 2 might have most of them but certainly not all. remember these things drift, weather, certification tuning etc can cause the frequency to change.

K narrow works ok if you only have a few K band threats and know what they all are. You can chose the band that you face, but run the risk of finding another K band gun in the segment you disabled.

I have seen guns in 1,2 and 3 over the last few months.

Yes comparative to other radar systems, significantly. But it still has too much auto unlearn logic built in. If the Walmart door is quiet for 2 passes, next time i drive by there is an officer at Walmart!!!

What detector specifically is this on? Do you have a source you can point to for this information? Thanks.

Did you just forget, or did they ask you not to tell? I can't imagine someone not being able to stand behind giving this information, if found credible.

I just forgot. Wouldn't want to get in trouble. I exactly didn't say im going to be posting this on a forum. Is there anyway to test this? I will give feedback after a few weeks of using the system.

It'd be good to have some specific data points to test against. K Band guns tend to be all over the place, with only a few specific models having extremely precise frequencies such as the KSI Falcon HR and KSI Raptor.

I have seen K-band LEO frequency very low and very high....not running any part of the K-band range is risky. Run like that long enough and over enough geographic area and you will find yourself pulled over wondering why your RD did not alert.

If this is the case (only KN2 necessary for all guns) question in my mind becomes:
Are the selectable K narrow bands that are presented by the detector's firmware accurate? In other words, do they really toggle each narrows band correctly according to the published specs or is there some firmware issue like that which was just discovered by another member on his RL360c where toggling off the Laser band does not actually toggle off Laser?

Guys,

I drove for 120 miles today. These were my settings as per my super source.

K Band OFF
KN1 OFF
KN2 ON
KN3 OFF
KN4 OFF

The system never went off and never alerted to anything. It was super quiet, even to door openers and regular falses.

The KA Band was OFF
ALL KA Narrow bands ON Except for 9 and 10.

I was alerted twice on my journey on KA band, and both times there were Cop Cars.

I will keep you guys posted on how I progress on these settings. Also I wasn't speeding in any form, just paying attention to the new settings. The system was super quiet.

Cheers,

Looks like segment 2 on the iX Ci only covers 24.110 - 24.175.

Here's a few recent encounters I found from a min or two of skimming the videos section where you'd get a ticket if you chose to run only seg 2:

Please be very careful if choosing to tightly segment K band.
THIS.

Just last week I was hit with 24.186

I'm sorry but running only segment 2 is a TERRIBLE idea. The title of this post should probably be "Learned a New Trick to Get Pulled Over Faster!" ;)

I've seen Falcon HR's out of that range. I owned one that was close, at 24.114 and a local PD has one that runs 24.113 which I'm sure could drift much further.

If I place a rock on my dash, it will be super quiet to K band false alerts as well. And WAY cheaper than an iX Ci.

I can also ride around in my vehicle with the radar detector turned off and it is quiet, but protection is greatly reduced. If you face K Band threats, limiting the K band range is risky if you drive over the speed limit. I hate K falses, but I am a little scared in even using K-block. I wish they could make it so that a strong enough signal for an extended time would break through. Of course, then stuck behind a Honda for an extended period of time would stink.

I am not sure what this has to do with segment 2 or any segments. If the door is off and the LEO frequency is a little different then it should alert. Shutting off a segment does not solve anything, unless I am missing something.

If you don't trust autolearn, then turn it off. I dont use it on escorts (only V1 driver since I can set the freq and number of learn passes) - only manual lockouts on Escorts and I have never had to unlean them.

Are there question you have on how autolearn or lockouts works and which frequency ranges get locked out?

In the situation where the LEO is sitting in the Walmart parking lot, the signal from the door has to be very close to the LEO's for the detector not to alert. If the LEO was in segment 2, and the door in segment 3, the detector knows this and will still alert to the LEO with the locked out signal present.

Lets say the door is in segment 3, and the LEO would also be in segment 3 but very close in frequency to the door to be locked out with the door.

In that case if you shut off segment 3, then you don't get an alert from the LEO or the Door, so what good is shutting off segment 3?
