Just updated from 1.3 to 1.4.

I tried doing the hand trick on 1.3 to trigger a Ka false and to see if 1.4 would fix it, but mine wouldn't false even with KaSW enabled.
I guess you will have to pull into your garage then, lol. I hope they solved the issues. I am looking forward to seeing your testing results of the new firmware.

lol...

Hopefully we'll get a changelog here soon so we know what the changes are and what we should be testing... :)

I'm going to go out to my car and stick my hand in front of it to see if it goes off. The cable doesn't reach to my window well and I was going to hook it up to the rearview but I didn't do any of that yet because I want to know if I'm returning it before I order the Blendmount.

Max 3 Hand job tutorial:
1) Mount the Max 3 in a comfortable position easily accessible from a seated position in the vehicle.
2) Set up optional video recording. (Note: some Max 3's may exhibit a performance anxiety on camera, so adjust as per your Max's individual response)
3) Get the Max 3 turned on. Use only certified safe products to do so.
4) Allow suitable time for Max 3 to warm up, at least a minute before performing any hand actions.
5) Once Max 3 is properly warmed up, and everyone is in comfortable position, start video.
6) Carefully, but aggressively cup your hand around the head end of the unit, completely covering the business end.

7) If no response, discontinue hand job, Max 3 doesn't respond to you favorably. Best to stop now and avoid further humiliations.
8) If Max 3 responds with nervous squeaks and face lighting up, you're on the right track.
9) Continue hand job until adequate video has been made to share with friends.
10) Abandon Max 3, nothing more of use there, and rush to nearest computer and upload video of hand job to share with friends.
11) Make sure video is posted as "Public" so all know how easy it is to get Max 3 to lose composure with a quick hand job. The point here is to make sure future "Maxes" get adequate real life training before being released into the harsh real world.

You're welcome.

I don't see the 1.4 firmware available on Escorts website. Did you just use the update tool and have it check for updates?

Yeah it doesn't seem like they've posted the changelog yet. @JSherbondy

If you plug the Max 3 into Detector Tools, it'll load in 1.4.

Thanks for the quick reply, another question. I plugged my detector into my laptop I get a "low voltage" message on the detector and then it shuts down. I am guesting I need it plugged into the car power source also. I looked at the user manual and detector tools to see if that was the case but I could not find anything. This is the first time I tried to update the detector so not sure about the power requirement, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Noooooooo!
Only plug into computer, no extra power sources!
Danger!

Have you got a proper data cable?

Well I thought I did
I personally haven't seen a charge only USB-A to Mini USB cable, only data cables.
Something about your connection to computer, your detector should show a USB symbol in the display and auto connect to Detector Tools Pro.

Detector powers up shows highway mode then shows "low Voltage" then powers down. I tried on two different laptops.

Probably a silly question, buuut. When the app runs and I'm driving around with the Max 3 turned on, the phone gets hot. If I set the settings for the Max 3 in the app, do they save into the radar or do they only apply when the app is connected with Bluetooth and they'd have to be set in the radar manually if I decided to not use the app all the time?

Escort Live app is terrible. It uses a LOT of cpu power (for no good reason).

The good news is, once you make your settings, you can kill the Escort Live app on your phone and all will be well. Your settings stay and your phone can go back to normal, like it never had that syphilis at all.

Changing in the app, changes inside the detector, probably the most redeeming feature of Escort Live I have found.
However, many instances of when I start up the app the next time, it goes ahead and makes a bunch of changes all on it's own, completely messing up the previous setting.
I have resorted to getting my settings done, then exit app, go into App settings and removing all permissions (because it keeps doing stuff in the background, auto connecting, even when not in vehicle) then just run detector stand alone.
Highway Radar or Waze is far more useful anyways.

Ok, good to know! I figured that was the case but who knows these days. :) I was looking at Vortex's suggestions for settings (I'm in NJ so NY and NYC things ON) but I didn't see Ka Notch I think it is in the settings? Did they remove that?

For whatever reason, you need to access K Notch through the detector settings - it doesn't show up through the app. Hopefully they will change this in the near future.

K Notch, for Honda like BSMs, is only able to be turned on inside the detector settings itself, not by the app.
For Ka, turn Ka OFF, then make sure Ka band segments 2,4,5,6,8 are on for full coverage everywhere.
K Band, turn OFF, and turn on segments 1,2,3
Cruise alert 20 mph.
AutoLearn ON.
Then you all good to go.

K-Notch is set through using the manual menus on the detector.

Try clearing the detector out of both Escort Live and your phone's bluetooth devices. Then reconnect from scratch. I've seen similar issues with other Escort detectors after an update.

Just something to try while you wait on hold for however long. :)
