That will bring you up to speed on Radenso's previous statements as to their intended release process, plus the dynamics of some users that would deter further information sharing by most manufactures. Because even after Theia comes out, it will be still viewed by a lot of people. We want it to be clear what people are pre-ordering and also even after pre-order.

Ok...…..speaking of prototypes...…..this showed up as part of my contest awards!

I would definitely not mind if THIS were the production horn inside Theia...…….completely CNC machined from a solid block of aluminum!

This is some real artwork and a beautiful assembly! I incredulously asked Jon if this was a production horn (can you imagine the time to machine this) and not surprisingly the answer was no. Production horns will be cast from magnesium and have some fins added to double as a heat sink. None the less it will be based on this design........just different materials and fabrication process. Would there be a noticeable difference in performance? I don't know but the lines on a cast horn will never be this crisp and sharp while flat surfaces may be a bit smoother. Also you have what may amount to different electrical properties between the two metals. So I don't know if it would be a straight up apples to apples comparison between this prototype horn and the production model (but I certainly wouldn't mind having this one under the hood).

Now for the dimensions of the horn itself. This very much reminds me of Escort's compact S7 horn...….a fabulously balanced horn with a relatively mild and consistent taper and small aperture. Less directional than larger horns like that found inside the Uniden LRD950. This should give it tremendous off axis performance while leaving the RF circuitry to extract as much straight line distance as possible. Wider antennas with a more pronounced taper would make the antenna more directional or give it a bit more gain to signals in perfect alignment but start dropping off and losing gain the more out of alignment you get with the source. For RDs I prefer a balanced horns like this and the S7 / M3 / V1G2 with excellent off-axis reception.

Last but not least is the labyrinth inside of RF isolation chambers and microstrip tunnels. A very elaborate arrangement that provides a separate stall for every element on the strip line filters! That's pretty crazy!

I'd like to thank Jon for sending me the ball cap and sticker...….but to see this in the bottom of the box blew me out of the water! It's like getting a moon rock from Nasa.

Dimensions: 5 1/4" Long and 2 13/16 at the widest point (mounting bosses). Horn dimesions: 1 1/16 W x 9/16 H x 1 3/4 long. Comparatively the Uniden is 1 9/16 W x 5/8 H x 1 5/8 long.

That thought has criss crossed my mind numerous times. Although it would be a lot easier if Jon just sent me the remaining prototype parts that go with THIS horn so I don't muck up a good unit.

I was going to prank that I could attest to the parts shortage crisis because my Theia order showed up missing a few parts...…..but the situation deserved a more serious approach.

Hmmm, better yet.......I'll bet @WildOne and @Token have the missing pieces!

I honestly don't remember what revision your prototype is, but I know it's an earrrrly one since it wasn't bead blasted. So I don't think the production RF board fits in it, I think we shifted the location of some of the walls very slightly as we improved our filter design. I think it would seem like it fits, but the walls might short out a microstrip.

I am really glad you liked it - one of the things I enjoy about this journey is being able to share it with the people that truly like RF. Sure there are the occasional trolls, but by and large there are good people here and a few that "get it." I learned a tremendous amount over the last few years about RF and I try to think what would have made me really happy as an enthusiast when interacting with a manufacturer. And since I am a hardware guy, I know that getting an early prototype part would have made me super excited. It is fun being in a position to do that for other people!

Sorry i only have Telekinetics. What ever the F that is L0L.

Btw. I like yhe new FW on my G2. It appears to ramp up better and I "think" it's quieter on BSMs, but not entirely sure.

Still though JBV1, small data plan, and V1G2 is an UNBEATABLE FORCE.

Come on now. Analog is beautiful. Tubes and bipolar transistors are amazing. Let's not forget the JFET. RF is out there in the ether. What's not to love?

Hell yeah..….there were even two flavors...….Philips head for US customers and a spare set of Robertson screws for Canadian customers (@DC Fluid ).

I'm afraid you misunderstood...…….this was the one part at the bottom of the box I was allowed to share, the others are all classified. It was a huge box!
