I recently had a rear facing Escort radar receiver added to my existing iX Ci Platform system. Prior to having an install shop order it I contacted Escort directly to confirm that (among other things) the rear facing receiver would allow directional arrows on the iX Ci Platform display as well as on Escort Live.

The install shop installed the rear facing receiver below the rear bumper, behind the OEM black plastic splitter (see photo approximating location). After testing the system on both K band BSM vehicles and LEOs transmitting Ka; I still have no arrows on the iX Ci display and Escort Live displays a front arrow regardless of the location of the source transmitting radar. If the radar source passes me (or I pass the radar source) the directional arrow in Escort Live does not flip direction.

I contacted Escort again and they had me do a factory reset. I did, with the same issues afterward.

Escort then said they thought my red chrome wrap is interfering with the rear receiver.

This does not make sense to me because (a) the receiver is behind the splitter, which is not wrapped, (b) the front receiver is behind the front bumper which is in fact wrapped and works without issue, and (c) if the wrap is indeed causing the rear receiver to not pick-up radar why would that result in no arrows at all to appear on the iX Ci display (when Escort Live is at least showing a front facing arrow)? When the radar transmitter is ahead of me shouldn’t at least a front facing arrow appear on the iX Ci display? (d) The car’s parking sensors are located behind the wrap and function fine (although the car’s BSM does not work through the wrap).

Before I go back to the install shop, can anyone here confirm that a iX Ci Platform with front and back receivers should have arrows display on both Escort Live and the iX Ci display panel? My contact at Escort said it should.

If the rear receiver is indeed behind the OEM splitter (which is not wrapped) should it interfere with the receiver causing the arrow issue? If the rear receiver is to be moved, where would be best?

Hey,

I have the Escort IX CI, and my arrows work fine. I use the standard display from the bluetooth app. I have attached the user manual, check page 9 on what the LED display looks like with arrows. My system had issues too in the beginning. When the escort guys says reset we reset all settings. My system was reset and rebooted when i deleted all memorized locations. Since it was new it did not matter at that time. Cheers.

Sorry to hear about your issues. Yes, your arrows should be working if the antenna is connected. Escort is incredibly difficult to deal with when you have any issues. When you take it back to the installer, tell them that you want them to talk with one of the engineers at Escort and get that name if possible so you also have someone to call. Let us know how things go.

Carspear,

I too did a factory reset per Escort's instructions. All of my normal configuration settings changed, so I am assuming the factory reset was successful.

I looked at page 9 and yes I have no arrows at all (when receiving radar) no mater what meter mode I am in. Normally I use Standard. Instead I have a satellite (GPS) icon where the arrow is supposed to be.

The "Platform" customers get a dedicated representative who is the point of contact. He has been very responsive via email (and via phone on previous occasions). It's sounding like the rear receiver is DOA or not connected properly.

Glad to hear that it's a simple solution. Keep us posted.

Sorry for the miscommunication. The factory reset did reset, but did not fix the problem.

I didn't want to sound negative, but I had a feeling this wouldn't be the end of it. I think more than a few of us have had issues with Escort installed systems and unfortunately they weren't much help getting things resolved. Different issue and different system for me but their solution was to unplug the BSM sensors on my car, or disconnect the rear antenna. Not much of a solution.

I wonder if there's any way to verify that the rear head is plugged in and functioning. There aren't any menu options to turn the arrows on or off. In theory, I'd assume that it should just work after plugging it in and I guess doing a factory reset? Sounds like that's not the case though. Weird...

Interesting. I agree. It may be a DOA receiver or an "air gap" in wiring or a connection. I know that the iX Ci checks for the laser shifters upon boot up. At one point in time one of my two ShifterMax shifters came unplugged and the iX Ci not only detected the missing Shifter but displayed an error message on the iX Ci display including which of the two shifters was creating the error. Pretty nice!

With the rear receiver however no such error messages are occurring.

I think a feature desperately needed in Escort Live is a list (maybe under attached devices) of what items are connected to a system and a current status for each. That would make life so much easier trouble shooting these things.

Try deleting the existing memory of markers from the Keypad. Reset all markers. When I installed my system it wasn't responding and resetting the settings was not doing anything. So i tried deleting the memory of marked locations and the system came alive instantly.

Also, if it works there are times you see the front radar and rear radar arrow, however not all instances does the location pass over from the front to the back. Sometimes it does not report it that way depending on the environment.

I have an appointment to go back to the installer to insure the rear receiver is plugged in and making contact with the system. I will update you all when I have more news. Thank you.

Just to update everyone. The car went back to the installer and they checked the wiring. There was one connection which was not pushed-in fully. The arrows and rear receiver now are working.
