Pro-M Laser? Ticket?

Hi all,

Let me start by saying I have read a few of the post by saying I recently purchased my detector in September and enjoyed that its relatively quiet compared to my old Escort 8500.

I saw a post regarding firmware and mine came with 19, so has Lasers been reinstated as would have been rather helpful as just got popped yesterday, as might have given me a chance to react.

Unfortunately this experience left me with the nagging question if I was running my Escort.

I know Radeson has a ticket free guarantee policy for radar,, but yet still markets them with Lasar detection?

anyone else have this happen?

Honestly Laser detection in a radar detector is basically useless. it's very rare to get any advanced warning of it untill you are targeted due to how small the beam is (2-3ft wide at 1000 feet away) and the fact that it's not constantly transmitting, only when the officer has you in the crosshairs and pulls the trigger. even if you get an alert from your RD, which manyt imes even a direct hit is missed it's going to be too late to slow down as the guns can lock on very quick. if you see laser in your area you need something like ALP to provide proper laser protection.

Sucks about the ticket, hopefully you can get it reduced or tossed. Many of us have been there, thats why I got laser protection, cause my RD wasn't up to saving me from laser, and I got popped with it too.

All radar detectors are unfortunately useless protection against laser. They merely act as ticket notifiers, only going off when you've already been tagged. Unfortunately, this most likely would have been the same outcome whether you were running the Pro M or the 8500.

If you need protection against laser, you need parking sensors.

I’ve had a few saves with my V1G1. Gotta be quick and hard on the brakes, but it’s worked for me. 90% of them were when I wasn’t the primary target though and I picked up when another car in front of me was getting tagged. Sorry your ProM didn’t do anything for laser.... there’s a firmware downgrade thread in here if you want to do that to get laser back, but that’s your call. I can’t remember what firmware killed it off, but that was a shitty call by their manufacturer and Radenso supposedly wasn’t allowed to dictate they not do that.... which is strange because they’ve also said in the past that the ProM runs slightly different tuning or some junk for the functions... so which is it? Anyway, read through that thread about the firmware and decide on which way to go. Also, I don’t think Radenso’s going to back up with ticket guarantee on the laser side of things.

Sorry to hear about your ticket but, all any radar / laser detector would do for laser is inform you that you had been hit with a laser. The only way to get by is to have a jammer and know that you don’t JTK because you tip your hand, that pisses off the cops

You need to be on fw 22 to get laser detection. It will false to laser on fw 22 though. Fw 19 has 0 ability to detect laser. I tested it with a laser simulator that simulates multiple guns. I could be point blank shooting at the laser sensor and its completely silent. Laser is turned off on fw 19. I hope they have a fix on the future but I'm not hopeful as support for the pro M will likely wane once theia comes out soon.
