In fairness I used a Cobra/Uniden for the "GHETTO ARROWS" set up, lol. If my memory serves me right so did @hiddencam

I've been a "good Cobra" cheerleader in the past. Sometimes even when not warranted. Just when they made incrementally better improvements in their old crap detectors. When the Road Scout and the DP-360 came out, I first gravitated to the Road Scout because it had been stated that it was using the same platform as the DSP-9200, which was a known quantity and a detector I owned as a backup to my V1. I also wanted a dash cam. Well, if you've prowled the Cobra forum, you've seen my post on it. Yeah, it sucked. I've been more impressed with the DP-360. I bought one for myself and one for my wife. I replaced her old Beltronics GX-65 because I couldn't take all the falsing. Well, in her car, she was getting a whole new variety of falses. Again, if you caught my posts, I think I narrowed it down to some sort of cellular/5G harmonic issue on her route. I wasn't getting it with mine. We didn't discover this until after I returned hers for a refund. So I was left without mine. I ended up turning on Ka segmentation and that took care of the issue with no loss of performance otherwise. Around town, she seems to get her share of K falses. I may need to take another look at it and see if I can tweak it again or see if there's an update.

In the meantime, I picked up a a Uniden R3 to replace the DP-360 I had to give to her. I've tolerated it for a year. Oh, I've got it tweaked to where it's quieter than the DP-360. But I really miss arrows. Having used a V1 for 6 years then a DP-360 for a month or so... I hate blindly scanning around for police. But I do love the range. So, my Christmas present to myself, or one of them, at least, was going to be an R7. Screw Valentine's upgrade policy. But then I saw the DP-360 go on sale again and picked up one of those as well. I really enjoy using iRadar/Escort Live in concert with Waze. It just feels like multiple layers of protection. So I'm gonna run both and see if I absolutely have to have the R7 or if I can manage w/ the DP-360.

As to Cobra, yeah, it's the reputation they've established for themselves. And honestly, being a budget distribution channel for Escort/Cedar Electronics is only giving them slightly more respectability. Sure, they are putting out at least one model that actually works. But there's still all the other junk. And it's all backed by that "great" customer service. I would take statements/pronouncements they make about differences between the DP-360 and the Max-360/GT-360 with a grain of salt.

It took Uniden roughly 20 years to recompete with the world. Just before 1998-ish, Uniden was able to provide near High performance with the V1, before filtering was needed. I ran a LRD2300 for a few years, till new cellular and other devices that killed a non-filter detector was properly needed.

With Cobra, I had my hands on the 480i and had others thanks to Vortex to allow myself and KennyC56 to do a July Mid-tier run and High end as well..... the Cobra did nicely, but its BSMs and other were flawed similar to the Whistler CR97 series.

I've seen some posts of you testing some lesser known detectors/used detectors. Thank you for replying to my thread and for doing your good deeds. I owned a 480i and thought its detection was good enough for $150, but yeah the filtering was meh I remember getting several questionable X band alerts which I wasn't expecting, the K band filtering was just awful too. I sent it back and tried the Road Scout, which I was initially impressed with until I realized it sucks at picking up I/O which is common here in Florida.

I've seen your posts about the Road Scout and DualPro 360 and frankly it was one of several that convinced me to return the Road Scout. I can't recall if your posts were in 2019 or 2020, but the issues you had with one of the DP360's might've been Escort/Cobra's less than stellar original firmware, mine has the current firmware and runs very well. But hey, your results may vary lol. Let us all know how your new DP360 works out for ya! And yeah I love iRadar, it makes changing the options and getting alerts very easy. When I tried running two radar apps, they conflicted with eachother, so I opted to stick with iRadar. I think if you give the DP360 with the newer firmware a chance you will be quite satisfied with it (or maybe you had a faulty unit). 🙂

CobraKai, I got in the new DP360 and was immediately pleased with how quiet it was. I took it through the city along the same route where my wife was getting falses last spring or winter (whenever that was). Not a peep. So, I decided to check the firmware to see what version it has... 1.0. I checked my wife's, 1.2. Hard to believe they are still selling units with the OE firmware a year later. But at this rate, I'm tempted not to update it. I did have several good, solid alerts on my work commute. In AutoLoK it's a wonderfully quiet detector. I had a great, long range 35.5 over the hill pick-up this morning. But... 1.0.... SMDH....

Weird. On the flip side, I'm glad the DP360 is working out for you though.

I am in the process of aquiring the DP360. I hope the vendor contacts me with amount to pay soon.
I will be running the DP360 for a while to get on road feel for it's BSMs and such, user friendliness etc.

The proof of performance will be in testing.
It will be directly and fairly compared against:
R7 (2 of them)
R3
Pro M
Escort Max II
9500ix (3 of them)
Theia upon arrival.
Obviously Theia is not available, but did this comparison test ever happen?

I am picking up the DP360 today from post office.
Max 3 is still 1-2 weeks out, but has cleared customs.
Postal service has been atrocious.
I plan on using our forced 2 week Xmas break to conduct several tests and post on RDF.

As I have said maybe 4 times already...

LOOKING FORWARD TO THE TESTING! 😂
