Hi All,
I've been a RD user for the last 25 years+. I remember my Dad (RIP) using a "FuzzBuster" in his Oldsmobiles when I was a kid. Despite that, he STILL managed to get a speeding ticket on the way to court - to fight a speeding ticket - seriously.
I've done some interesting drives in my years. Did a run from San Francisco to Memphis in the late 90's via the Southern route on I-10, to I-20, I-30 and finally I-40 in about 22 hours. Was driving a Audi S4 with both an Escort and Valetine.. Made GREAT time in Between LA and Los Cruces as we hit that stretch at about 1;00 AM. Think we MAY (or may not) have peaked out at around 140 mph somewhere in New Mexico.
Today I am driving a 2016 diesel Cayenne and running a Passport X70. I usually keep it between 80 and 85 now, stay right whenever possible (and safe). Literally just arrived in Illinois from GA as we are visiting the in-laws. Fortunately they have a fully finished basement with a separate entrance so we can easily maintain our "safe" COVID perimeters.
Looking forward to reading and learning and sharing stories here.
Also, a quick heads-up about LEO activity in KY. As we were passing through Kentucky, I am fairly sure I saw a pretty interesting undercover LEO vehicle on I-75. Passport was flashing strong-ish signal at each crest of a series of rolling hills. I tapped the brake to release the cruise and moved over to the far right lane. As we begin to crest a hill near some exit ramps I am getting solid bars now. No doubt I am getting solidly K banded by KHP. Check the medians and mirrors and start to check the ramps too. Nothing. I then look across the median expecting to see a couple cruisers with the low-profile light bars. Instead, I see a gray Dodge charger on the shoulder, no light bar, tinted windows, blacked out grill and trim and several dents on the driver's side. Also, the gas flap is opened and a white flag is hanging in the window. As soon as I pass the Dodge, the signal drops to nothing. So very little doubt that it was UC KHP shooting radar while posing as a disabled vehicle. VERY SNEAKY.
Stay safe on the roads and hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.
