About 3 days ago my Samsung Note 9 did a system update. Since the update neither the JBV1 or V1gen2 will connect to each other via BT. I can open the BT connection setting and see the V1gen2 but when I click on the listing it tells me it needs an app to run which I do have the jbv1 trying to connect but it does not. Prior to the system update everything work flawlessly. Appreciate any suggestions to pursue. My cellular program is with Verizon if that should be of any use.

Clear your Bluetooth cache:

Be sure to reboot at end, and that you haven't paired your phone to your V1 while trying to sort it out.

JohnBoy00, thank you for the suggestion which I just tried but no success. Like I said, everything worked great until the recent security update that occurred on 11/01 (Verizon system). I did go and clear the BT cache as you recommend, restarted the phone and no change. Attached are two screen shots on my phone in setting, connection, Bluetooth that shows the devices that are paired and the devices recognized. The V1Gen2 shows up in the recognized devices, can see the BT light on the V1Gen2 unit while it tries to pair but never does because it says it needs an app to connect? I do have JBV1 set to auto start but fails to pair.

I just really hate these security updates because we never know what is being change or what is effected by the change. Maybe I need to contact Verizon to find out what can be done? Appreciate your thoughts.

Read the top of the attached screen. :)

Delete the entry in your Bluetooth settings and try JBV1 again.

Did what you recommended with the previous post - still no change. I even tried to auto start with V1 connect no success. I did contact Verizon and they had me go and remove all paired BT devices and reattempt with no success. They say I need to restore factory default? Oddly though I drove my truck the other day and the hands-free system I have in the truck recognized the phone and paired up like it has done for the last 9yrs. Am going to try connecting V1gen2 and JBV1 tonight after work. I am completely confused.

Again, thank you for your time.

Can you post another screenshot of your paired bluetooth devices now that you've done that?

I have some insight to this perhaps.

I have a Pixel 4 XL.
It gets the latest Android updates before my Samsungs.
I have 3 - BT OBD 2 dongles for monitoring truck functions on my phone, programming etc.
I could no longer stay BT connected after a security update.
I went through Google help line and everything, reset phones, etc. No luck.
Won't connect BT to dongles.
I recently got the November security update and all works just fine again.
Chances are the Samsungs are 1 version behind the Pixels, and you will have to wait for the next security update.
Not an Android version updates, but the monthly security ones.
Hope that helps, but very frustrating for me too.

DC, appreciate the info and will hope there is a fix soon. As for earlier post, here are a couple of screen shoots I see when at the BT connection page.

Similar.
Mine would allow a first BT connection after resetting everything.
You could watch it drop about 5 seconds after.
Then it would appear in the previously connected BT menu, but was unresponsive to any connection attempts, regardless of any settings.
Had about 3 months of that, and went away immediately after the security patch update.
I really think it's an Android security glitch for some BT devices.
Most of all my other BT stuff still would connect as normal.
Not the BT OBD2 dongles.

Hello @TheKid and welcome aboard RDF!

Sorry to see that you were unable to correct your BT issue, but here's hoping that an Android fix will be released soon that corrects this for you.

So, I continue to mess around with the issue of the V1gen2 not connecting via BT with an oddity fact that I am able to connect to the V1 app via BT but still not able to connect to JBV1 or Highway Radar. I have sent 2 emails to Valentine since this has been going on with absolutely no response. Am counting my days down before I decide to return my unit back to Valentine for a refund and pursue another brand (speaking out of frustration, uugghh!).

Highway Radar isn't meant to connect.
Your only concern seems to be JBV1.

Are you shutting down V1 Connection before trying JBV1?
Only one app can be connected at a time.

Yes, only attempting with one app. I have always used JBV1 with no issues but now only app that will connect with V1gen2 is the V1 app. When I try to connect to JbV1 I get the error message in the BT connection page "unit needs app to connect". I will confirm tomorrow that I do have V1 shut down before trying to connect to JBV1, thank you.

And, be sure that the detector is NOT paired to the phone either. :)

Are you able to try BT connection with another phone? Like an older Android left over?
That will help determine if the latest security update messed up BT connection for some devices like it did to me.

@TheKid glad you got a fix.
It was a long frustrating wait for me also.
