Cobra Dual Pro 360 Review (One Month)

Hey Bossdad71....I haven't updated my DP 360 because I only have a Samsung tablet & before that a Chromebook!!! Plus I've read too many Escort update fails w/some units that I roll with original firmware. If I have an issue I'll sell to pawn shop, use my Uniden R1 until Theia is released!!

Wow that was my 1st detector when I started for RB , loved it

It seems likeable.
I think its a good detector.
Dad is getting used to it and I customized settings to keep it quiet but loud when need be.
Those old guys and hearing aids you know.

For BSMs my R7s are better when set right.
Stationary signals are the same but Max II alerts a little later (must be a range thing)
Max II is a bit of a Honda detector at the 24.190-24.210 range, needs K Notch bad.
Some other BSMs are appearing that I haven't heard from other users as a problem.
Maybe more new cars getting that last K band sensor blowout sale before they are banned?
But all in all probably a good mid-level detector and steal of a deal if you get for less than $300 USD.
I got this one Ebay Official Escort site for $269 plus shipping and import fees.
R3 eats it's lunch in testing.
More closely matched with Pro M.
If you don't need top notch BSM filtering, stealth and MR detections the Max II is a close Pro M level in detections.
However, as a discontinued model, probably never see another firmware update again, so no K Notch coming I think.

Thanks guys, I'll splice together the night encounter I had. It will correspond with the fourth and final encounter I reported on the initial review/post. I think the other two encounters were deleted because of space. But hey if I get more I'll post them!

The rep I spoke with said and I am paraphrasing "The Cobra shares a very identical chassis with the GT-360, however they are not the same product. The Cobra has features the GT-360 lacks (such as MRCD), a more up-to-date database, and better filtering". I personally get very few if any false K-Bands on my DP360 which could explain why K-Notch is not present on my unit, and if I do get a K-Band the DP360 via the auto-learn feature grays it out. It's my dads Max 360 which had horrible K-Band filtering before enabling K-Notch. My father told me on his birthday (Nov 14) that he thinks my DP360 is better than his Max 360.



Oh how you flatter me so . I really think you should re-consider what you said about recommending paying the extra $50 or so for the Max 360 over the DP360. I prefer the magnetic mount of the DP360, and think the DP360 detects better than the Max 360 and that's based off of having used both (I prefer the design of the DP360 as well). But that's just me, and ultimately boils down to ones personal preference.

In closing, , Escort's claim that the DP360 has better filtering might be true and will only be verifiable with more testing . On my end, any K-Band alerts I get are usually grayed out via the auto-learn feature. For the most part my detector is very quiet.

Some of the newest vehicles have been giving mist radar detector brands BSM fits. I need to run it long enough (for a week) on 1.0 to see if it can keep up. Might encourage me to update and see what does afterwards. One reason O did not update t for so long... It never experienced the lockups others had. I did not want to end up with a copy of FW that created the issue.

I like the display. When it was in daily use, did not have an issue with that.

I suggest you look around in Bel area. There are other GT360 users who have reported how things are with I believe the latest updates. Seems like the features matched the Escort Max 360 With upgraded FW.

My primary go to detectors in the fleet (see below for my inventory), are the V1 G2, and Max 360c. V1 G2 getting the most duty for 2020.

Here's that night run I promised. Bear in mind this one is non-planar, I am above the cop who is below me and I see him when I come off the bridge highway. The Cobra told me he was "Ahead", and funny enough I expected him to be coming in the opposite direction and possibly miss him completely.

What I like about Uniden R Series is the adjustability of Auto Mute volume level, so I can set it that my Viofo A119 V3 can pick it up clearly in the videos.
Also, the RD and dash cam are mounted close by at top of windshield either side of the mirror.
I believe the M360c has mute volumes low, mid, high, but the DP360 manual only has on/off auto mute?

You could have been blasting along with a lesser CM and he pop up right behind you and gig over.

With all due respect did you read my post? We literally said the same thing...I and everyone with a functioning brain knows that the Cobra detectors prior to Cedar Electronics acquiring Cobra were junk. I even said in my post the newer but cheaper ones, were and are junk. You're tracking the dashcam/RD combo is the Road Scout and not the "Duel Pro" right? Using your own words, the DualPro 360 is a good detector because it was built on Escort technology. Glad we agree . And also...

Thats an impressive collection you got there. I actually found some footage from my dashcam that corresponds with what I posted with regard to Ka encounters and I will try to splice some videos together.

Yes you are correct. I'm not up to knowing Cobra detectors. I meant the Road Scout the DualPro is a Escort detector like the Max 360c and a very good detector. I would trust it to protect me. The RoadScout is a good idea it just needs to be improved to the standards that we except from a $400+ detectors.

Most people aren't and I understand why. Yeah I wanted to like the Road Scout, and with some improvement it could be a good dashcam/RD combo but in its current state its just not worth it. And yeah the DualPro 360 is great, I view it as a Max 360 without alot of the fussy customization options. Still waiting on Escort to answer whether it will get K Notch or not.

Update: after reading the reviews in this thread and checking out @Cobra Kai awesome Amazon review, I just pulled the trigger on the DP360!

I had previously ordered the Max 360 but I just canceled it. The DP360 not only looks better (more premium, less bulky) but it looks like it has better BSM filtering and superior range and reactivity to the original Max 360. Also helps that it’s $50 cheaper!

Can’t wait to get the Beltronics tones again!
