I have tried hard to like the RL 360c as much as I loved the original Redline, however I can't be comfortable with a detector that when it alerts to Ka I have to guess if its legit or not. The first RL 360c I received I sent back due to constant Ka falsing ramp up was horrible slow arrow response and the inability to turn off the red light camera on the detector or the app even with it off it would still alert. I will give credit where it is due, the return time for the replacement was great and I was excited to see how a properly working RL360c would work , however the only improvement with the 2nd detector is the arrow response time is much better...I still get way too many false Ka alerts and several times the K alert just went off full tilt no ramp up at all. Hopefully Escort will get the RL360c working like a $700 detector should, but for now I'm going back to the R7 which was very reliable when it alerted to Ka and the ramp up was spot on...I guess the old saying "the grass ain't always greener on the other side" holds true in the case.

Why not give the V1 Gen2 a try? I got rid of my R7 for it and have been very happy.
I purchased the Max 360c about a year ago (upgraded from an Escort 8500 x50). As much as I liked it, I did end up purchasing a Valentine 1 Gen 2 last month...

I didn't *need* a second device, but something brought me to purchase it, and boy am I glad that I did.

While the Max 360c is great and all, the V1G2 paired with an app like JBV1 is just out of this world. The customizability and options seem endless.

I ended up giving the Max 360c to my dad a few nights ago. He loves it. It's easy to use and works great. But the V1G2 is far superior (IMO).

Just my .02

Years ago I had a V1 didn't like it but I'm sure they have improved since then..I will do some research on the Gen2 I actually run the JBV1 stand alone now

R360c is the best Escort has to offer. If you already have R7 its high performance has been well tested on this forum. The V1 is by a good bit my favorite especially with JBV1 and often detects a smidge further than R7 especially off axis but we aren't talking about enough to be the difference in a save. It comes down to what your goal is and what you're willing to spend. I knew Theia was on the horizon but didn't hesitate to buy the G2. Unless Radenso says otherwise I expect Theia this year and will buy it. Maybe if I didn't have the cash for both I'd have skipped the G2. But I did have it and VR earned that sale through decades of great product and service. I almost bought R7 just because but I really like the concealed display of V1.

i'm guessing you tried to put the new fw on it?

what do you have the settings on k band? what you described going from zero to full tilt sounds like what the older redline did when people had the tsr on.

the false alerts on KA, what are the frequencies?

New fw? Both came with 1.4 ..K narrow 1 2 and 3 are on tsr off as for the Ka falses I only remember 34.6xx the rest of the time I was looking for the threat which I never saw or heard on JBV1

I'm glad I went with the R7. I was on the fence between that and the RL360c. I really like my Max IIs so I was impressed by Escort, but I couldn't justify the price difference of the R7 and RL360c. I already had a Pro M that I run only in VA so I didn't need another high end stealth detector. I just wish the R7 had an improvement in BSM filtering at 24.168 offenders such as jeeps and pacificas. Other than that it's a solid detector and the best value two antenna RD.

@jerzboi, I feel your pain having had issues with my Max360c. Hopefully Escort has some future firmware updates on the horizon which hopefully will address some of your concerns and issues that you and some other people are experiencing.

I know the Max360c is a different Escort detector, but I have to segment my Max360c on Ka to minimize the Ka false alarms. Segmented, my Max360c doesn’t false very often on Ka, but when I run the entire Ka band on, Ka false alarms do occur more frequently.

I just got my Max360c back from being serviced for the third time in early October, and my detector still has the random and non frequent sleeping issue where it stops picking up radar at sometime during the power cycle, and it won’t alert to radar again until power cycled.

It is frustrating when you spend top dollar on a high end radar detector, and it doesn’t meet your expectations. Now I do like my Max360c when it is working properly which is 98-99 percent of the time, but the sleeping issue is significant if it leads to a ticket. I will no longer use my Max360c outside of city driving.

On the RL360c, it definitely sounds like there have been some improvements over the original firmware, but it seems like a lot of people including yourself have some issues on your RL360c that need to be addressed. As I mentioned above, I think a firmware update is on the horizon, and you have a very capable R7 to use for a while. For me, I have my V1G2 which is now my primary detector.

It is a shame when you spend $700-$900 on a product and you don’t feel comfortable using it, or it isn’t performing as expected. I thought about getting an RL360c, but I need to get my Max360c working properly and sell it before I will even consider buying a RL360c. Good Luck!!

Give credit where credit is due. Escort has been doing better than they have in the past with regards to CS and updates. But is it enough, and do I have faith it'll continue to improve? Unfortunately, it's a no for me on both counts. Thankfully there is healthy competition in this tier, esp with the V1G2 and R7. Looking forward to seeing what Theia is capable of if it comes out this year, and hoping it lives up to the hype. Will make a purchase decision after seeing how it fares relative to the V1G2 and R7 in both performance and value. Escort I fear will only come around when the market truly forces its hand.

Do you have the k-notch turned on @jerzboi ? That helps with k falses but will alert full blast when (if) a strong k band is close that requires full tilt. Just curious

Is that the latest fw? So you're running jbv1 by itself or are you running two detectors? Were you close to known offender cars when k went off.

@jerzboi sorry to hear that your experience with the RL360C has not been what it should have been for a top tier RD. I own both the RL360C and the R7 and my experience has been much better with the RL360C. Whenever I drive my car with the R7 I’m reminded just how disappointed I am with it’s BSM filtering compared to the RL360C. The R7 is just way too noisy even with the latest firmware update.

Hopefully, @JSherbondy will be posting an update on the firmware release for the RL360C soon that will make it perform better where it is lacking and allow you to feel comfortable using it again.

1.5 isn't out yet as of today. I run jbv1 stand alone on my phone only I am aware that running 2 detectors is not advised..I wasn't close to any Leo's when k went off full tilt I was on a highway that Leo's run ka only

Hope the ALPs are still treating you well.
Yes Sir they are still going strong...well worth the money unlike the RL 360c

Every new product has its developing cycle, especially for something that has significant change from the past, it will exhibit issues in general public uses no matter how much of lab time has been put in. As an earlier adoption individual, it is expected to experience some growing pain. IMHO, whether a product can earn its value and customers recognitions, it needs not only it’s functionality, but also it’s service and continuous improvement. For that, I do give the credit to Escort based on my experiences with RL360c.

My first RL360c was solid out of box. Performed as expected from many other has experienced. However, my second RL360c had experienced terrible GPS and false alerts issues. It went through two replacements with great customers services experiments and received replacement properly and timely. One thing that I have been tracking and noticed, my first RL360c has the batch number 2420, and two returned problem ones had batch number 3420. The last one that I have received with batch number of 3720, which is also performed as expected. I can not be certain if there is any relationship to some of issues that we have experienced, it is certainly possible, if some of the issues, especially with those none software related issues, could be isolated to a particular batch of products, possible specific components and/or production process.

just my 2 cents for sharing.

I understand what you're saying, however when I spend $700 on a product I expect it to work as advertised . If it's not ready for the public don't sell it until it is.

As someone who loves using a smartphone paired with my detector - I'd jump on the V1g2 without a second thought if I'm in an area with no MRCD/MRCT. And after reselling your RL360c you might actually have enough extra coin left for a decent Android phone to dedicate to the app.

Disclaimer - I don't have a V1g2, it's just that I find it to be a very competent offering when paired with an app (without the app, I'd have an issue with the lack of GPS chip - for muting alerts under the speed of my choice, not for autolocks - and I don't want to add dongles to my OBD ports to get speed info).

@jerzboi the K-Notch option is only available in the detector settings itself, not through the app. That makes the ride much quieter for BSM. @Vortex has a video and articles on his website to get to that option in the detector itself. I have had great luck with mine, so sorry to hear you are having issues
