Why Theia at a price point of $1000+ is not cost effective.

what if a person adds in a scanner and maybe waze, would that cut down some of the %
Certainly does help, and OP does mention an app in his post. Heck, some people say, "I have an app and it's free, why spend money on anything else?" You don't get a lot of those people on RDforum though ;)

More generally, when talking about "% chance":

The thing about this data, valuable as it is, is that it can't be relied on to accurately reflect your chances of encountering a particular type of enforcement. It only tells you how the people who received tickets AND took their ticket to a lawyer were cited.

Encounters that didn't result in tickets are not represented, and tickets that weren't brought to a lawyer are not represented.

Most notably, does 1 one out of every 5 ATTEMPTS to catch a speeder involve pacing? Or are drivers who were cited via pacing much more likely to say "That's some bullshit, he didn't even clock me," and lawyer up? And/Or maybe pacing yields more tickets per encounter, for instance if a cop who wasn't running radar or actively looking for speeders sees you doing something egregious, he might decide "this fool's getting a ticket" and write it up via pacing.

What IS valuable, for drivers in the specific area that the OP covers, is knowing in a broad sense that:
1) Ka is common in that area
2) Laser is common in that area
3) X and K are NOT common at all in that area
4) Pacing, while likely not as common as Ka or Laser, is still a real threat.

With an app, a detector, jammers, and watching your 6, every one of those threats CAN be addressed. But no countermeasures are perfect.

Moving or freshly set up police won't be marked on the app
I/O radar can beat a detector.
Jammers don't always jam successfully
A sneaky pacer may catch you when you're inattentive.

The marginal cost of better protection goes up once you've done the cheapest/easiest things. Everyone has a point where they decide the cost/benefit isn't worth further investment, and there's no way to really make an accurate blanket statement about what (among countermeasures that give ANY added benefit) is or isn't "worth" the money.

If Theia delivers the expected performance, it will be a noticeable step forward against I/O radar, and radar in general. And with the expected lower false rate there would be fewer alerts to sort through, which should leave more of your attention free for other types of threat awareness. For a lot of people that will be well worth the price, which contrary to the thread title is expected to be under, not over, $1K.

Looks like 6424989 is the BB sku.

From the source code:
Price: $899.99

We were tired of the answer to ";what's the best radar detector?"; being "it depends"; Range, filtering, build quality, technology, design - there is no reason we couldn't have it all. Theia is a statement of our belief in American innovation and our rejection of compromise. Named after the Titan goddess of sight, Radenso Theia will change radar detection as we know it.

Say goodbye to false alerts from other vehicles!
With our artifical [sic] intelligence we don't just detect frequency but we detect specific RF signatures which allows us to block false alerts from vehicles driving around you using blind spot monitoring (BSM).

Arrows show any threat, any direction

With a military-grade, dual horn antenna, it simply doesn't matter what thread is out there. X, K, KA, MRCD, MRCT - it's all the same to our ultra sensitive circuity, designed in Cincinnati, OH using metrology grade lab equipment. Theia has no weaknesses.

ioScout™ detects instant-on radar Instant-On radar is the deadliest threat that today's drivers face. Theia's vision is so comprehensive that she can identify and distinguish the microsecond "boot-up" time when the radar trigger is physically pulled.

Full color OLED display
Theia uses a anti-glare full color OLED display to give you all of the information you need at a quick glance.

Easy to use controls to stay focused on driving
Navigating Radenso Theia's menus are as easy as turning the knob left and right and pressing down. No more multiple buttons that become confusing while driving

Doesn't look like anything new beyond what was shared here but it does give some insight on how they're marketing it.

An illegitimate source is giving me this information... this lie is 100% true and factual information.

Much like how the vaccine companies have been producing product for months ahead of the release, Radenso has also been stockpiling Theia in a warehouse for its upcoming release.

Because of all the grief they have taken from other manufacturers and some members, they have decided to get even. Because of expected demand they knew selling them a little at a time as they made them would actually be a bigger headache than stockpiling them and having to wait and release them all at once.

So, knowing some manufacturers were out of stock until the end of December they decided to hold off until the end of January to release Theia. What this did is cause doubt in a lot of people who are not true believers. It also caused a rise in purchases of other manufacturers product.

But wait, there's more...

Those manufacturers have a 30 day return window, Radenso's plan is to announce Theia's release just before that window closes! They will have thousands of units ready to go. The other manufacturers will be overwhelmed with returns and now have to deal with used product. The members who didn't believe now have the hassle of returning product or be stuck with an inferior unit that nobody wants.

Radenso's surprise low price will basically make every other detector not worth the box it came in when it comes to value.

Radenso gets it's revenge and true supporters get an awesome product!

How's that for a conspiracy theory?

There is a misspelling in the following text... Min will need to get that revised.

Should be threat.

I'm sensing Theia will give your car +5-to-10 horsepower, on the butt dyno, of course. Maybe if they make Theia out of carbon fibre, the weight reduction over the previous detector you have can aid in acceleration, too? Me, I'd like a heated cupholder option. :D

Already included, just install the detector in your cup holder!

I never saw the BB ad and this is only a curiosity fun factor question but did it say $899 Canadian?
It's a fictional price if Canadian. Because we all know Canada ain't real.

Don't know if half TurboDriver's Post should have been in Purple or a new text color specifically for Speculation and another new color specifically for Conspiracy Theory Posts!

So who is the emoji builder expert working on the tinfoil emoji?

I'm relieved to learn that this lie is 100% true and factual. I've always preferred "truth over facts!"
It's such a relief because according to my inside phallic source, Jon had an epiphany at MV's retirement party. Mike apparently convinced him to follow his dream, exit the RD business, and invest his capital in a new distillery. Those guys will surely bring groundbreaking bourbon to market. Made differently than all that came before. I don't know what the price point will be but bourbon is often more cost effective than beer.

I dont know how all of you think , but heres mho , ive had a rd since i was 16 im turning 49 , so i been around them forever , i am however totally pissed i missed the v1 bk in the day it would have saved me atleast 3000 or more in fines plus insurance hikes, ive had 300+ tickets , and im not a rich person , putting my faith in escort all those years cost me , they only told me to pull over when they went off , until i had enough , 2012 , escorts last chance the redline , so at that time i knew nothing of lidar , 3 months into the redline highly impressed i now am being alerted ahead of time , when low behold im hit with lidar , wtf is going on so a quick search , i screwed up again got a hp 905 , chose wrong again , however it saved my ass for 6 years , so i dropped 550$ Rl and 650$ hp905, i had over 1500$ in fines in recites on my fridge , i was not mad about them hell i speed and alot , just tired of getting caught , i became a wizkid in court , yes i paid the fines but i had them tossed off my driving record , so its all in how you choose to do what you want to do , i can afford thiea will i buy it well , escort has shyed me away after the redline ex to not trust them and there software release failures , so i opted for a R7 and again , i chose wrong in mho (not the R7), tmg as i knew who was king but i am a gambler and chose the underdog and now im about to jump that ship to finally go to the alp , to me its about the best defense money can buy and what i like and how it would work for me , like i said im not rich but i like to stay as far away from leo's as possible !! I cant say ill buy thiea when it first comes out as escort and tmg burnt me of that , ill wait and see but i egarlly await its arrival , again to each there own , if u have not learned that by now after all these post , oh and by the way if u get a ticket show up and plead article 893 or 894 i belive it is and or u can use both if u get another as i have for 25+ years , it will not go on your driving record , or simply just ask for a reduced nonmoving violation and u will pay the fine today , which always helps !!! So maybe in the next year , ill be driving around with thiea and AL !!! But as for now , im well protected with what i got , many saves from both the R7 and tmg , however im always working to improve my odds of staying out of tickets !! Its high on my list because i had 300+ tickets , i still get them , they love me , i/o , pacing and being stupid , however its the game i like to play, since 2012 mayb 5 , so it cut my numbers drastically , im was born a speed demon and will most likly die in a crash but its how i roll !!!🏴‍☠️. So choose wisely and good luck out there , stay safe from those money generators !!

Sounds like a little research into what technology is out there and how it works as well as a better understanding of the countermeasures out there and how they work is really what you need. Dumping more money on the latest tech is only half the battle, you need to understand what you're up against and how LEO's are using it in your area to protect yourself and understand what to look out for.

Equipping yourself against a government budget will never be 'cost effective'. I would assume that a legal defense against 'misdemeanor' speeding would significantly change your cost/benefit ratio. At the end of the day I enjoy the game.

Haha...
I'm not sure why the thought of bang for the buck factor is the top purchase decision factor.
For entry level or mid-range priced ones, I totally get it.

I thought Theia will be in the market sector, "by all means necessary, let's make the best detector EVER!" category.

if Theia offers measurable advantage over other RDs out there, I'd pay pretty insane amount of $ for the protection.

The same people will blow tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars on cars that aren’t necessary to get them from point A to point B and certainly aren’t the highest bang for their buck, but they might quibble over a couple hundred bucks on the countermeasures they put in it that help them to enjoy the drive.
