Here is another example of drifting guns in Utah. Several UHP units were working accidents in Sardine Canyon this evening, and this one was at 34.802. On my R3, this frequency is right on the line between segments 5 and 6. I personally run Ka wide, but if you prefer manually segmenting 2/5/8, this is a gun you might narrowly miss. Especially if it drifts any further. Keep this in mind if you’re traveling in northern Utah.

I'm nowhere near Utah, but I segment 2,4,5,6,8 to cover my bases. Depending on where I may visit, I'll add 1 for Kentucky or 7 for a couple different states. I guess I could just do Ka wide when I travel to be completely safe. LOL. I don't think there will be a lot of Ka falsing on the interstates.

Thanks for sharing the find.

Because of this exact reason I don't segment my r1 any longer. I ran into a 34.798. Too close for comfort. What is the point of running cm if it does not protect you? Because of the longer sweep times from not segging it has cut down on the false alerts because of this in my experience.

I understand I could miss some quick trigger/instant on shots but I would feel really stupid if I was constant OWNED from segmenting. To each their own.

I agree 2/4/5/6/8 should be the minimal recommended segments for anyone who regularly encounters Stalkers. Hell, I barely see 34.7 and that's what I run.

It is great that we are getting to a point with detectors like the R series, V1G2, and soon Theia where segmenting isn't necessary, but rather an option.

Even though they are "supposed" to be at certain frequencies, I wouldn't trust that. Back in the 80's I was pulled over for something like 10 over. Never heard a peep from the detector. I was well over 20 PSL. Since I had just had the unit in the lab the week before , I knew that it was working perfectly. The LEO insisted that his unit was fine and that it was still on. When I showed him my hidden detector quiet as a mouse and started to ask about his serial number, he promptly told me to get the heck out of there with just a verbal warning!

He had mistuned the gun on purpose! I guess to not trigger RDs. But rather than tuning it higher, he had tuned it lower, so that all readings were off to the low side of life. Probably wondering why there weren't that many speeders that day....

Cop: Pulls @WildOne over for speeding.
Wildone: Shows concealed RD.

That guy sounds like the boneheads who were so wound up about expressway speeding that they'd put the radar antenna down by their side before the I/O units were out. Gotta love their brilliant idea to defeat RDs. But then came the health problems.

The 34.400 might not be low enough. I came across a UHP unit in a parking lot transmitting at 34.7xx from the front antenna and 34.348 from the rear antenna. That’s the max drift I’ve seen.
