So this thread has taken a turn into road trip adventures? :mmmsmug: Real-time feedback. Cool.
As most of you know, my commute to work everyday is around 100 miles round trip, but it's in a rural area. I figure since @cihkal is on a road trip maybe he can try A mode with no K verifier. Hell, I'm not getting any BSM's in A mode, so it won't do me any good to try it! I figure maybe I just haven't come across the right cars yet to make my K band turn into a pinball machine! I've gotten my usual door opener alerts just like on 4.1019, and I've gotten a few K band alerts I couldn't place, but it's pretty much a mirror image of how it's been on 4.1018 and 4.1019 until I got smacked with 34.7 I/O, then there's a big difference! I'm still very happy with 4.1021!

I have about 1000 miles with 21. The ramp is certainly improved and I'm not having a lot of trouble with BSm. I also tend to run L mode so that's probably a factor. One Odyssey generated a false, but many other Hondas did not. So far I wouldn't revert but I would like to see VR offer the ability to do so as Uniden has.

Escort got bashed for a lot of reasons. Bum firmware is one thing. Refusing to acknowledge obvious problems is quite another. And to be fair this was quite some time ago. Escort has made substantial improvements but VR has never acted the way Escort did in the past. Neither has Uniden to my knowledge. I'm a huge fan of MV and VR but that doesn't prevent me from recognizing other great CM companies or saying so if I see a problem with my V1 or VR.

Another trip to work 2 K falses in 80 miles. Each was 1 bar, 1 sec. No LEO. The Gen1 was quiet for maybe 10 min total the whole time. forward, backwards, sideways, everything from 1 to 9 bogeys. To me this update is quieter, but like I have said before. Until you can control what you are testing, all these observations are just circumstantial.....IMHO

BTW, I'm "A" all the time on both...

Just a thought...I am wondering if those of us experiencing issues are those that never had initial issues with the first batches. I received mine around mid-March with original hardware and software but none of the issues that plagued early units. I then upgraded and it became more chatty with each iteration UNTIL it is overwhelming with this update...Just thinking out loud on a Friday nite. Maybe mine needs to go back to Valentine for a once over...IDK. Did no more than a 20 minute round trip today and the thing never shut up once!!! I need to run "A" as I live in NJ and have all bands near me. Yes I have many of the manufacturers that make this thing go bonkers around where I live. Sorry just venting. Have a great weekend!

I don't think so, mine is a later model as well. Came with 4.1019 out of the box. VR will figure this out, I am confident.

Interesting thread. All firmware updates regardless of brand can have negative effects. I generally hopped on them fast with the R7 knowing I could revert back to any other version. Without that it's definitely better to wait a little while to see if there are issues. I think that's just a risk you take updating early on. Another thought that I had when reading this thread was nobody getting bricked out on a fail. That seems to be a thing of the past on pretty much all electronics but maybe that's more anecdotal since I have never had it happen. I am sure Valentine will put out a new firmware to address issues.

There have been a few that might have been bricked because of an interruption. At least two that I recall that didn't seem to be able to get going again eventually. :-(

I have a March and a July one. They've both become very chatty. It's definitely the firmware.

That's the same boat I'm in! The Ka I/O kill zone ramp is 99% of what I care about. And that is now perfect! The other 1% is filtering, which I still haven't had an issue with on 4.1021. If I do run into it, I'll do what @cihkal does! I'll go to L mode and let it eat! I don't have to deal with hardly any K band anymore thank goodness! The off axis and range was and still is amazing, so no worries there!
Much to arguments with others, full logic mode works very well for me too. And we have plethora of K band in Fishers, Noblesville, plus other near by counties. Maybe if running in sparse red lined, no reflective curvy roads, would run different. Likely BSM is not issue. For metro areas, so far full logic has excellent response and range. With pre 21 slaughtering of BSM and most fixed false (which V1Driver or JBV1 apps kill the few fixed false left).

Friendly telegram while I sip on coffee in a freedom loving coffee shop! 🇺🇲

Same old same old, boring because it's quiet on K and no action on Ka!!!

Maybe I'm on 4.1021X, some variation 😉... probably just lucky so far!

Been a great road-trip between Chi-Town and TN in the CX-5 with my G2, CD, and hardware savvy! Tricky getting all the good poses of the interesting vehicles; I don't snap ones that arent farting K band!

Yea, noticed there is comment by the reaper team. Something about aggressive PMs. He is good guy. When I have seen him go, it is normally like original Rambo. Does not make the first punch.

Understandable, any firmware update needs a stable environment. Should never be attempted without that although stuff happens.

I dont revert either. I move forward. I accept what comes with updating and dont mind making adjustments. I have not had a phone without beta software in many years so when I shared what I saw I was not complaining. I would even be willing to run beta V1 firmware and provide feedback but they dont do that with the general public.

Had a 3 hour road trip today.....1st long trip with the new firmware. My wife said it best....."That thing is annoying, does it ever shut up!"

It was miserable for the first 45 minutes of the drive. Random 2-4 K-band bogey alerts separated by short bits of silence here and there. Had 2 10 bogey count encounters as well, all BSM's/ We made one stop about 20 minutes from home, at that point I had it with the G2 and just powered up the M360. Golden silence on the way home from there. Another quote...."Why don't you use that one more often". VR really needs to get this figured out asap!

I have used this G2 for many prior road trips and it is was as quiet as the M360 or more so. I thought I could live with the increased BSM alters to get the benefit of the instant Ka I/O ramp, but that is not the case after that drive.

Until this gets fixed it looks like the G2 will be used when I am driving in Ka territory with minimal traffic on the road. Other than that the M360 or RL360 will be getting used.

I started to save the BSM encounters on the dash cam but it after a bit I got tried of hitting the button.

I know it’s off the subject but I wish vr would make black suction cups I always liked that because it hides the suction better then the clear ones

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You can buy black suction cups that work with the V1 mount. I used them myself with the V1. Think I bought them on fleabay for around $10 for a half dozen. Might even have been less. They actually were slightly larger but not by much. I did think they held it better than the ones that came with it.

So the V1 is back from the mothership. Havent had time to test it out, but had to install it and first issues:
- V1 connection on iOS can NOT connect to the updated V1.
- V1 connection on android CAN CONNECT to the updated V1
- BT id has changed... need to reset my V1 @SquirrelMaster CD
More tomorrow
Clear B/T and your app cache.

If you do use a bench power supply and a cig light adapter to power the V1 make sure it is nice and tight with the V1 adapter. Mine didn't power up at first due to the adapters coming loose. Then while doing the update I mistook the first start up sound for a broken connection and nearly crapped myself.

After a presumably successful 41021 update, I noticed my display still flickers approx every 90 secs
Why?

Add me to the list of multiple Bsm's after the update. I had to take down Gen2 and put the R7 back to work again. They need to fix this soon. Before anyone ask....Yes, I tried all the fixes posted on here, DIDN'T WORK!.
