So since there's been a couple of new FW from Uniden, I decided I should run another test to see what changes might of happened.

The Contestants:
Escort M360C (FW 1.12)
Escort Redline EX (FW 1.15)
Uniden R3 (FW 1.54)
Uniden R7 (FW 1.33)
Radenso Pro-M (FW US22)

It's more of a comparison of the Uniden's, and using the Escorts and Pro-M as a control since they didn't change. It's a good comparison when you look at it with the testing I just did October 10 2020

The Course:

It was late in the evening. Temperature was 10 C ( 50F).
The trap is a popular spot. They hide on the side road. At night, the side road is not lit up. You can see the reflector on the back bumper of the truck. Since daylight savings, the sun sets here around 6pm.... so any travel in the evening, is in the dark. Even with the new wrap, they still find ways to make it difficult to pick them out if your not paying attention.

Here's a view of the roadway in the daylight.

Nov MRCD Trap Course Picture.JPG

Escort Max360C FW 1.12:

Highway Mode
TSF Off
MRCD Rig Frequency Reading - 24.075

I've already proven that TSF does not have any meaningful impact of MRCD detection, so I only ran it with TSF off. Since it was a control detector, I ran it how I was going to run the Uniden's.
It's been really good at picking up MRCD since the last update. Unfortunately there's no MRCT support or Gatso support for the Mesta Fusions, but if you need MRCD detection... it's been pretty good.

The Runs:
Run 1 - 619.8'
Run 2 - 444.9'
Run 3 - 518.9'
Run 4 - 629.5'

Escort Redline EX FW 1.15:
Highway Mode
TSF Off
MRCD Rig Frequency Reading - 24.094,24.096, 24.104

I keep giving it chances just to see... but it's still not there. A couple of runs that did alert before the trap ( just barely), and one run into the kill zone. I didn't bother trying to run it with TSF on. Again, Its a control just to see where the 2 I am concerned with stack up.

Run 1 - 143.0'
Run 2 - 39.7
Run 3 - +164.4 (Kill Zone)

Uniden R3 FW 1.54
Advanced Mode
TSF Off & On
K Filter Off
MRCD Rig Frequency Reading 24.080

This was one that I was curious about. What did 1.54 do? Well, It doesn't look like there was much of a change when it came to MRCD detection.
Running TSF off, it did fairly well and held it's own. All 3 runs with TSF off, would get you a save really, but if you ran TSF On... well that all went out the window. It was almost the same result as the October 10 2020 test. All 3 runs with TSF On put you well into the kill zone.

TSF Off
Run 1 - 331.5'
Run 2 - 589.7'
Run 3 - 442.3'

TSF On
Run 1 - +212.3' ( Kill Zone)
Run 2 - +130.5' (Kill Zone)
Run 3 - +208.8' ( Kill Zone)

Uniden R7 FW 1.33:

Advanced 100%
TSF Off & On
K Filter Off
MRCD Rig Frequency Reading 24.081

This was the other new FW I was interested in. This one was actually an improvement. Turning on TSF did not have the negative impact on the MRCD detection range that 1.29 did have on it. It's more even now. Your not losing 70% of you detection range by turning on TSF like you were on the October 10 2020 testing. A welcome improvement.

TSF Off
Run 1 - 496.0'
Run 2 - 363.1'
Run 3 - 556.3'

TSF On
Run 1 - 486.7'
Run 2 - 518.3'
Run 3 - 312.4'

This run was funny because there was a 2nd MRCD trap a few blocks away and that guy decided to come visit his buddy. Probably to make dinner arrangements.

Radenso Pro-M US 22
Autocity Mode
TSRej Off

Another control detector. Very constant. The usual and predictable detection for modulated radar. I just ran the 3 runs to see how the Uniden's compared since it was a different course, and different weather conditions. This is the detector I use as the benchmark. This time it was barely beat out by the M360C.

Run 1` - 565.9'
Run 2 - 530.8'
Run 3 - 527.6'

In Conclusion:

It's just one test and should be looked at with the others done. The FW changes do not make it a true Apples to Apples comparison, but if you look at the Control detectors, you can see the pattern with those other 3. The M360C is currently trading shots with the Pro-M when it comes to MRCD detection.

The R7 got better by minimizing the effect of using TSF On for detecting MRCD.
The R3 still respectable with TSF turned off, but unacceptable to use with TSF turned on and running FW 1.53 or 1.54.

The Escort Redline EX is in need of a FW update. It's been over a year. Needs work on MRCD, MRCT, and Gatso detection.

The Escort R360C. Waiting on a FW update before I test it again.

All the video's of each run are available, so if there's a particular run you want to see, let me know.

Aww, what a cute couple that pair is. How is the R7 around town with those settings? Would it be easy to be desensitized by BSM or other noise? When R7 cries MRCD is the wolf always there? Thank you for the great testing! Can't wait to see what Theia does in this environment.

Once again, excellent work. I really appreciate you spending your time and money for the sake of the forum. I keep saying it; I gosta git me one of those Pro-Ms. Folks, this stuff will find its way across the US soon. It's already shown up in some states.

Yes and No on the MRCD false alerts.

The Uniden's with TSF turned off alerts to MRCD and Gatso as MRCD. It doesn't tell the difference.

When turned on, it no longer alerts to the Gatso Mesta Fusions.

As for MRCT..... I really do not get any type of MRCT alerts no matter how hard I try..... Even running into a legitimate MRCT RLC..... nothing... nada. I'm better off just using the RLC data base than any of the detectors.

Could be how they're set up here. That's just my experience with it and there's a lot of MRCT RLC here. Sound like some of the guys in Chicago or NYC have a different experience. Chicago is a lot like here.

NYC has some mounted on roof of cars, so that could make a big difference in detection of them. For me... testing the MRCT RLC's is a waste of time and I keep trying them when ever a new FW comes out with piss poor results, so I don't bother too much. I can at will since they're stationary and running 24/7, but I never get any hits running around casually, so I don't put too much time into it.

Funny thing is, that's how I found out about the Gatso cameras. by fluke. Tuned every band on after a new FW release and suddenly started getting some alerts. Nothing in the change log gave me any heads up that it was being worked on.

I usually do not get any False MRCD alerts with the Uniden's. I will with the Radenso's and Escorts at times.

@Heywood - Great testing as always! Thanks for the time effort and gas. Always important for those that face these threats to know what to expect.

The Max360 series seems to be very solid these days and working as it should 'as advertised' for what it can detect (cough, cough, unlike the RL360c). Thank you and great testing!

Thanks for the testing @Heywood! Wonderful as always! Glad to see 1.33 on the R7 is a step in the right direction for allowing the use of more setting options while still being useful for detecting MRCD

After my quick Redflex encounter posted yesterday, I was very curious to find out how the R7 would be now with MRCD! Thank you for updating us!
