Well went to best buy on Monday had to go 60 miles out to get a Uniden R3 the local store didn't have any in stock. I had a R3 back when they first came out and man that was some detector too. Well things happen and didn't need the detector anymore sold it at a good price. So I know how to use the detector. I unboxed the current detector in the car set it up mount it on the window. Me and my wife went to eat then left out to go home. The detector didn't make one sound but just a few K bands NO KA bands. Running this in HWY mode. KA band 100%. I been riding around town and No KA band. Going to my mother's house there are a few speed signs there but I have no idea what there running on because the detector doesn't go off not sound not a peep. I guess a trip back to best buy might be coming unfortunately. Does anyone know what band this speed sign running???? Thanks guys

As others have said those signs are usually K band. Most likely you have not encountered police running KA band radar yet. As they say it's a radar detector not a police detector. Give it a bit longer before making the decision to return it

K band speed sign. Low power....which makes it undetectable by many detectors.

I’ve found the signs with the blue dot like the one pictured almost never cause my detectors to alert. What type of car do you have? Some have RF blocking tint in the windshield. It’s common in high end luxury cars like Mercedes/Land Rover/Jaguar/Porsche.

If you're chomping at the bit for some KA hits, don't know anyone with a KA gun and have a Android device....you can download the Highway Radar app and start driving thru the hot spots.

Same here. Not all speed signs elicit a signal.

FWIW, these are actually referred to as "changeable message signs" in the Federal Highway Administration document Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Virtually all radar traffic signs (AKA - changeable message signs) presently on the market are Part 15 devices that operate in the K band (around 24 GHz).

My city has these signs all over town. None of my detectors from V1 or Escort alert to them.

Aren't those signs are just speed reporters, not ticketing providers?
That's correct in my state (SC). SC has a law on the books that the police department can't use speed trap devices like theses signs to make revenue.
