If you really were a "Uniden guy" then you would know that there is a beta FW out right now and it is being tested with. Uniden has NEVER been fast with their FW updates so why is now any different? As long as they keep coming in I see no reason to complain at all. All of the R series detectors have preformed wonders even without constant updates. At least they have not had a terrible initial release like Escort did with the Redline 360
Nope thats not true about Uniden, when the R series first came out updates were incredibly fast, one was released in a few days. People then were in different positions so alot has changed but there was a time....

If they are going to let others do EVERYTHING for them, why not ask us, the end users, what we really want?
Maybe you aren't aware, but that's how we got the R7 to begin with. We were asked what we would like to see in a new detector and the R7 was born. An update that cleaned up a couple things followed up very quickly. There's already been 2 or 3 updates. We can either be patient or go to another brand. I choose to be patient. My R7 is great now and it will only get better. Tom wouldn't stick his neck out with a teaser if it was just hype or "vaporware". Plus, we know we have members testing it now.

I assume the oversized, bold font was for my old, tired eyes. It made your post easier to read. I appreciate it.

I like my R7 just fine with the latest update. Not that I'm not looking foward to the new update but as far as all the detectors I have owned in my 72 years I have to say the R7 as is works great for me . I learned about patience in 1969 when I spent a year every night waiting on Mr. Charles to show up .

Oh cut it out with the "moderator helpers" allready. Let people express themselves. No one needs more referees. I'm glad we have a topic where we can vent a little. And some misunderstandings can be cleared up by experienced forum members.

I love my R7. Every time I drive with it I get situation awareness from a distance. All you need to add are some good laser CM's, and you are that much more aware of your surroundings. Waze and good eye scanning (I'm one month behind @RadarScout with my tired old eyes) and you have all the elements covered. It saves me on almost every drive. I don't even make a point of it anymore...unless it's a laser save. Those are extra special.

Auto-lockouts would be nice, but I'm actually much more interested in squelching as many of the K Band BSM false alerts as possible. That is why I'm excited about this new update. I can't wait!

Hey @Administrators ........

As The Pope.... I'm giving this thread it's last rights. Sleep well my child.....
I'm granting a continuance:

The one thing about Uniden releases is that once they release it with a new feature, we'll find something that needs to be tweaked almost immediately. I don't think they've ever had a "perfect release" of a new feature.

So long as it isn't new-feature-broken, my personal opinion would be to get it out there so we can figure out what needs a tweaking. And then we'll have that fix about the time my ribs are done:

Two weeks ,three weeks who cares, as long as they get it right the first time. I don't want an update that gives us new problems. If they get it right the R7 will be one of the best.
Did you mean Two weeks, two weeks who cares??
If I’ve learned anything here firmware is only ever released in two week increments.

The part that everyone forgets is the fact that the two week timelines only applies to firmware beta builds. 😉🤣

By the time beta testing ends for this damn firmware the presidential election will be over. The 2024 election that is.

Hurry up Captain Molasses!

Maybe, just maybe, instead of hiding in the shadows, Uniden could pipe in once in a while, and at least tell the non-special Beta Testers, "Hey everyone. Yes we are still working on wonderful updates and other great things here at Uniden." It is not too much to ask for. I understand how things work, but being totally silent, is unacceptable to me, and many others. Where is the Uniden rep? MIA it seems to me. I don't care if they take a full year to update and give us what they PROMISED in regards to the R7, but going totally silent makes people wonder if the company as abandoned the R7, and moved on to the next R whatever. Peace

There are already too many responses to this useless thread. The OP should read the other threads already beaten to death on this topic. The FW comes when it’s ready. Complaining about something like this accomplishes nothing other than to discourage manufacturers from sharing information about upcoming products and features.

They are already not "sharing information about upcoming products and features." to anyone that is not a Beta Tester, and the BETA testers have to obey the NDA they sign. So it falls to Uniden to talk to the rest of us a little.
