What is the "database"? Red light camera locations?

Anyone else notice that the update is also for the R9. Must be getting close to release.

For those of you who are not aware, I've already updated this latest US / Canada database on the thread here:
So 8 October 2020 version is now the most up to date.

for the R3 do you have to first update to the 3/19/2020 V1.53 before updating with the 10/6/2020 (database update)? not sure if one overrides the other and/or if they are completely separate and different? seems like the v1.53 is firmware- and the 10/6/2020 is just red-light and speed camera data base update? the Uniden website is not very clear they way they vaguely post updaters for database and firmware. I never get a email from Uniden when there is an update ever and I signed up for it on their website.. does anyone ever get an email from Uniden when their model serial number has an update? thanks

Uniden firmware is normally released with both firmware and gps. Therefore installing the firmware also installs and overwrites the previous GPS unless it is the same version.

So in your case, you'd need to reinstall the latest gps database if using the downloaded Uniden firmware.

However, for the R7 124 and 129 firmware I previously rereleased the firmware without the gps, to solve this issue people.

Let me do that now for the R3 153 and R7 133 firmware.... That will save people the trouble of then reinstalling any of the more recent databases.

Perhaps in future I should rerelease the firmware on a separate thread:

Maybe even there should be a special thread with a sticky on the Uniden part of the forum. That way we could present all the most recent R3 and R7 firmware which is provided without the GPS database so people can more easily swap and change. When doing comparative testing it makes a lot more sense just to update the bits that actually need testing.

@dudeinnz is is possible to get a thread created stuck to the top of the Uniden section where I can upload these firmware files without the GPS. I.e. R3_137, R3_146, R3_148, R3_150, R3_153 / R7_122, R7_124, R7_129 and R7_133 ??

Sure thing, if you want to create the thread in the Uniden section, I can go ahead and sticky it for you.
