Anyone know of a plastic cover for the V1 Gen 2 radar detectors?

Radar Direct in New Zealand used to make one for the previous V1 and for the Uniden R1 and R3, plus others. But doesnt for the V1 Gen2.

Im based in New Zealand so need to prepare for the odd unexpected shower while riding :)

I can use a plastic bag, but it doesnt offer protection from stones on a naked bike

I have a Ram Magnetic mount on my bike.
I cover detectors with a freezer bag and elastic band around the post of the Ram base.
Video above of it in action on my return trip.
I've gone on 2000km trip with non stop pouring rain like this with no problems.
A windshield is a must to keep direct blast off it

I just feel too naked on a naked bike. LOL.

I discovered that Gen2 doesn't fit. Depending on your mount, you could put a clear plastic stone deflector in front of the lens and use the plastic bag idea. Plastic moulders sell sheets of plastic and it's easy to cut and bend it with some heat.
I've put a flyscreen on my bike and the V1 tucks behind that.

Wonder if there is a market for this type of thing. Something universal or maybe specific that offers the protection. It would need to be able to come off and go back on while still being incased.

Electronics stores sell waterproof boxes, but I haven't seen a clear one yet. If you're clever, a clear front could be grafted on a coloured box.

My go-to was always a ziplock over the top and a zip tie around the bottom

I have used rain covers that are clear hard plastic and are molded in a very similar shape to the radar detector and they just clip over the top. But I haven't found one to fit the Gen 2.

Wow they are still selling that thing ... check the dimensions I don’t think it will fit. Back in the day you could buy Thermoshell fitted covers specific to the RD but they’ve long gone

I think the baggie is your best bet

Just note that Gen1 covers will not fit Gen2. 2 is too long.

Ziploc bags and rubber bands. Put them in your storage area or keep them in your jacket etc. Takes just a few seconds to slip on and works great.

@Scott2Ride I have a Redline - O inside this little box. Vented, yet waterproof. Pretty sure you could get one that match the dimensions of the V1-G2...
