I've got my Redline dialed it pretty nice up here in Northern California. My question is the setting that says other. I have this not checked on. Havent heard much talk about it either. Any clarification on this would be nice. Thanks and best regards to my Forum Members.

If it's the setting under "Marker Enables" that you are referring to, it merely lets you designate any Manually entered location you want to mark as "Other" (as opposed to label it as a Speed Trap or Red Light Camera). An example of its use would be to mark a location such as a hard-to-see entrance on a dirt road where you go camping, so at night where you can't see or remember where it was, it would alert you to that exact location. It would just audibly alert as "Other" as you approached and count down to it in feet until you reached it.

Hi poolmon yes that's exactly correct where its at. How would you set it. It specifies automatically or manually.

I guess I would select either one of the options and input the info.

It is real handy particularly for rural driving. Store the location just like a speed trap or camera.

To use this "Other" function to Mark a specific location just use the MRK button at the exact location you want Marked.
On the first press of MRK it will ask "Mark this location?". On the second press of MRK it will automatically default to ask "Speed Trap?" (which would be the most common reason to manually mark a location). At this point you are actually in a menu of available different labels which you can cycle through by using the Mute button. When you get to the label you want using the Mute button then press the MRK button for a third time to lock in both that location and that label you selected which will be saved to your User Database.

I should also mention that the GPS locations Database (Defender & User) also displays a single 360 degree-capable small directional arrow on the display itself to point to the exact compass location of GPS marked location. This small arrow is independent of the RD's front, side or rear arrows and is displayed whether your RD actually has arrows or not since it doesn't use the antenna's arrows as opposed to GPS coordinates. These GPS Marked location arrows also work with Escort's non-arrowed models such as MAX/MAX2/MAX3.
