Hi everyone, just created an account although I’ve been sleuthing for a few months. I’m located in eastern Washington state and routinely travel through Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. After watching a lot of Vortex, YouTube saves, and reading posts on here, I’m very tempted by a Uniden detector. However, I’m willing to switch if there’s a better detector for my area. If I go with Uniden, I’m undecided between the R3 and R7. I’m looking forward to your thoughts, and thanks for hosting an awesome database of information.

Welcome to the forum. I'd say you can't go wrong with the R7. You can find them for under $500 now. The V1 Gen 2 is another great detector if you're willing to use an app. If your budget can handle $750, the Escort Redline 360c is a great detector.

welcome aboard. Always great to see fellow members from Washington. I'm on the wet side of the state and just picked up a R7. so far very happy with it, for what its worth.

Welcome, either R would be a great pick! You could consider a V1G2 and if you use JBV1(Android app) for aircraft alerts and many other features.

Welcome! The one you pick will serve you well. You didn’t mention budget but that aside I would go with the R7. I think, especially if you spend more time here reading, you will want the R7 eventually might as well take that step now. Nothing against the R3, mine was great but having moved to detectors with arrows I know I will not be without going forward.

Welcome! Pick R7, assuming you are choosing between R7 and R3. Have both, like both.

Thank you all for the warm welcome and advice! Sounds like I’m going with the R7. The next time it dips below $430 dollars I’ll pick one up. What mounts do you guys use for the R7? I’ve seen some on Amazon for the R3 that claim to fit the R7, but since the R7 is a bigger detector I’m a bit suspect.
