So I am thinking time to get things back yo normal, albeit MOST of Georgia is still normal w humanity returned ... sit down restaurants, bars, gyms etc still operating ... barely.

So i have an opportunity to get one of the Testing RD's I need. I WASN'T EXPECTING ANYTHING MORE THAN AN OVERSIZED SHOE BOX WITH ARROWS ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Man was I WRONG !!!

It is NOT oversized and they designed it to appear pretty sleek and dare I say sexy even. It is not cheap looking, nor does it feel cheap plastic either.

The display is so huge even near blind people can read it. The display is very well setup and looks pretty even.

I'll attach the pic later.

So I have been running it mirror mounted in the DD
Jeep with my Remote NetRadar DSP. Guess what ??
The Uniden R7 has been nailing the Alerts
3-5 secs BEFORE my Remote system. The DSP is the Rrmote equivalent to the R3, so that is to be expected and I imagine when i test my R3 vs my R7 that will also be the case.

GF is calling me to fix her AC sooooo I will be finishing this "ode" to the R7.

I noticed a huge difference in 35.5 and 33.8 Ka range when I went from the R3 to the R7

While good for the display, this is a scary idea they are driving and cant see where they're going. Ha.

Benzr is totally spent from "fixing the GF's AC" and is sound asleep. No ode today.

Something I greatly appreciate about my R7 that I haven't seen many people mention is the bezel. Specifically for lefthand drive vehicles, the display is designed and angled perfectly to clearly present the screen to the driver and includes the overhanging bezel which does a pretty solid job of keeping sunlight from obscuring the screen for most mounting solutions. The other stuff is awesome too, though! :D

Finish to your ode?
AN ODE TO R7 PART DEAU

The display being HIGHLY LEGIBLE is also well laid out ... Alert driven Legibility is her strong point
as I always know where i stand by a QUICK GLANCE. THE Manual Lockouts work well, albeit some falses require 3-5 different presses. Tjat part sux but the AUTO LOCKOUTS will more than adjust for that !!! THE ARROWS work exceptionally well .... dare I say ...
((Nooooo Benzr
Dont do it, dont dare say it ....๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ))
THE ARROWS ARE AS RESPONSIVE AND ACCURATE AS THE V1G1.

Nooooooooo. Why Benzr ... why ??

:unamusedpopcorn: :unamusedpopcorn:

The one thing I hate is I still can't trust my K Band Alerts ... sigh. It is however, a short burst and a std freq shown. So eventually i can learn those and get SOME K BAND confidence back.

I cant wait forthe ELUSIVE THEIA !!

Nice Benzr, dare I ask if you made a typo above?

The arrows are as responsive and accurate as the v1g2?

Benz, my initial impression on it was the same is fine and when I first powered it up the display was really impressive. Still the best laid out, easy to read and customizable out there of any I have ever used. Once you get K band dialed in you should be pretty happy with that as well. Mostly Ka around me but a few areas still run K and I pick it up fine and rarely ever get a false alert.

Yeah @Holla I SERIOUSLY BELIEVED THE NEGATIVE POSTs and wasn't expecting much 'cept possible testing only. Naw it is on FT duty now ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž

Afterall isn't our R7 EXACTLY what we asked Uniden for in the threads? Just think UNIDEN R7 didn't get its due.

I just went to city mode with k filter and the notch filter on. The decrease in range is not linear and most drives I don't get a single false alert (GPS lockouts and low speed 20mph set). The range I have found is fine on K and have no close calls since I bought it a year or more back (forget now but I bought it a month or so after release). No build or reliability issues to speak of so far. Really rock solid all the way around. Would I like a little more K range? Of course but for 4 to 5 years I had K turned off due to falsing on other units before the R7 so now I have that protection back and it has worked out well.

If every other or third alert was a false I would turn K off without a thought. I don't want to hear or see anything (run in dark mode all the time) unless there is a threat but every once in a while some BSM will punch through but it is rare.

After about a month and a half of running the Gen2, I'm back to using my R7. It works better for me. I didn't see much of a range difference to justify running the Gen2 as my daily driver. I'll do a full write up of my impressions of the Gen2 in a week or 2.....when I have time. But I just needed my R7 back on everyday duties.

Different strokes for different folks. It'd be a boring forum if everyone thought the same detector was the right one for them. Look forward to your write-up.
