Redline 360, undien r7 would be my choices, maybe the v1g2.
These are the big three right now. At 5-10 over you could probably even get away with a little less than the very top tier. But your budget is $1000, which is more than enough for anything on the market, and of course "too much protection" is kinda the perfect amount of protection. So it seems like there's no real need to look at lower tier options.

The Redline 360c will be the most familiar to use for a longtime Escort customer. The V1G2 will probably be the most different (due to the simpler display and GPS features coming via phone app). The R7 would be somewhere in between, probably more similar to the Escort than to the V1G2.

Thanks for the input. Returned a very early RL360c that even with Firmware 1.3 did not detect hardly any known radar. Run 2 other max 360's that verified the RL was not working. Probably an early lemon. Gonna let the backorder situation on the RL sort out and hopefully they continue to work out the bugs then try again or just save money and get the R7, while giving the Theia time to hit the market and see.

However.... not sure I want to be an early adopter on that one, which could be great but.... I worry about heat impact on high grade electronics, I know they probably think they are testing for that, but windshield mount units can get a lot of heat/sun impact over time.

That sounds like a good plan. I have been tempted to try the RL360c, but I am trying to hold out until the Theia comes out to see how it looks and to see the feedback on firmware 1.4 on the RL360c.

The R7 is a great choice if you want an “all in one” detector with GPS. The V1G2 with V1 Driver is what I am using as my primary detector, and I also have a Max360c and an R3. The V1G2 and the R7 are very strong performers if you decide to pass on another RL360c. Since you already have two Max360s, you can always just hold out until the Theia comes out.

The bottom line is that you have choices which is good, and you already have two Max360s to hold you over if you decide to wait on getting a new detector.
