Are late (close range) alerts normal even on higher end detectors?

Is it possible that even with the detector mounted in the ipass type no tint slot that with the rest of the window having that tint, still rob you of range?

Like mounted in that slot allows for signal passthrough, but because of the small cutout, it's still not as good as glass with no tint?

But yeah, even with a nice detector, selective i/o, hills, curves, and trees, you can get some pretty short alerts
