Give it a few. I think the system has to see your introductory post before your account permissions are set to allow the link.

I live here in the South Bay Area. First of all, there is very little K band radar used in CA, especially in this area. The primary radar is Ka 34.7 and also there is some Lidar on the freeways, although not overly so. From a radar perspective you want the best Ka range both direct and off-axis with the least amount of false alerts from BSMs (blind spot monitors on various cars) and shopping center automatic doors, etc. that will alert your K band on your detector and can be very annoying.
One option is to only run Ka band on whatever detector you buy. This is only slightly risky in this area since we don't have much/if any K band in use.
A second option is to purchase a detector that has good BSM filtering built in and still allow K band to be picked up by it, albeit "filtered" to eliminate as many falses as possible. This is the option I chose and I purchased the Valentine Gen 2 detector. It sells for $500 and has top of the line range on Ka 34.7 and especially off axis range. Further it has exellent BSM filtering if you choose to keep K band active. Lastly, if you are willing to have an app running in the background on your phone you can have the advantage of GPS lockouts to eliminate shopping center interference, etc. However if you choose to shut off K band altogether, the GPS lockouts and BSM filtering are non issues.

Welcome, lots to learn here! With an RD, you are still vulnerable to laser. You may want to consider laser jammers on the front.

Correct. Here in CA, CHP uses Ka and laser.

Welcome. Get a g2 or an r7. Both will be perfect for Ca.

I second these recommendations. Maybe a RL360c if you like the bells and whistles (there is a little bit of RLC photo enforcement and Escort’s still got the best database, though in CA RLC enforcement is clearly marked at the intersection)

But remember that in CA, laser is heavily used. If there’s more than 1 lane of traffic, CHP has to get pretty close to you to succeed at measuring your speed with radar, and at that point just about any detector can save you. In such situations they rarely bother to do radar enforcement, it’s all laser.

If you plan on driving to LA or Vegas and get on one/two lane highways with much less traffic, you’ll find CHP more frequently running radar while sitting under the shade of a bridge. That’s where a RD comes in handy.

G2 = Valentineone gen 2?

how does jammer connect with g2?
Yes, G2 is the V1G2, (Valentine One Gen 2).
A jammer system is a completely separate system. We have the owners of two companies here on the forum. ALP is sold by Bestradardetectors and the owner's name is Tom. TMG is sold by Jag42 and the owner's name is Jared.

Hi,
I'm from SJ as well. I have a 2018 Model3 and I think I go with Valentineone gen 2. But I couldn't find any contact or Company info to install it for me hardwired. I have a Passpoort in my truck for 20 years and after I got 2 tix in one week and bought the Passport, since then I haven't had any tix. FF to last week driving with my M3 on Highway 85, the guy was in the shade of an overpass, even-though I was in the 2nd lane he gave me a ticket for driving 85 ( who knows how many people has he shown his detector to). Please point me to the right direction regarding installers in SJ bay area., thanks

If you are only running KA I would also recommend the original redline(RLO). It’s a beast.

I run this from time to time and it always impresses me. Make sure you get a segmented one. About 180-250 for a used one.
