the new Escort R360c seems to have good reviews and has a ton more features than the V1G2 or the R7. Its only $50 more than your stated budget if you want wireless WIFI updates great Bluetooth and auto lockouts. I owned the Max 360c and loved it. Just sold it and am now awaiting the new R360C to arrive-I cant wait!

The android users love to push JBV1 and while I believe it is an excellent product, I have no desire to switch from IOS products or even consider having a second android phone. I really don't believe I need any of the special "features" JBV1 offers over V1 Driver. The auto lockout learning feature and the way V1Driver completely integrates with my CarPlay system combined with Waze really seems to provide me with everything I want/need. I do drive fast but I usually remain somewhat vigilant and I typically drive with an advance "rabbit" that I pay attention to while remaining 1/4 mile of so back. V1 Driver just compliments my driving style perfectly. Not wanting to run an App is not relevant for me as I would be running CarPlay in any case so no big deal to just set and forget V1Driver.
Sorry of topic but how do you get V1 driver to work with carplay. My M2 is idrive 6, completely wireless with wireless charging, however only certain apps are approved, waze fortunately...

Redline 360c is my favorite detector that's ever been on my windshield. I do prefer the larger screen size and angled view of my R7 but the Redline 360c is more total package in 1 and definitely quieter on K band filtering. Money no object I'd go Redline 360c, on a budget Uniden R7 is very good as well just turn the volume low and the extra K band alerts won't bother ya. Don't need much volume with the large screen size and the angled view anyway as easy to see when it lights up.

I have V1 Driver set to "Always" be on in the background setting on my iPhone. So as soon as I turn on my car, V1 Driver announces itself over the phone or through the car system if the phone is already hooked up before starting up the car. My car doesn't have wireless CarPlay, but I have a wired in ProClip phone mount on my dash and once I enter the car, I "unlock" my phone and place it into the ProClip mount. At that point CarPlay is automatically fired up on the car's main screen when the car is started. My usual choice as I've mentioned is to have Waze (through CarPlay) actively showing on the main car screen. I also have Amazon Music playing on my phone (or on the car screen if my wife want's it there) through the car system and I leave V1 Driver visible on the iPhone Screen (although again this screen can be used to show the Amazon Music with V1 Driver just active in the background). Lots of options what to have visible at any given time and very easy to switch to differenct views while still having all working!!

Take into consideration if you really think you will want to upgrade to Theia as you noted. It will be the most expensive windshield mount RD. So if you’re ok with that I would recommend you consider an R3 or maybe a used R7 or even a used R3 for that matter to get you by until it comes out. You’ll get plenty good performance and save some money. If you think Theia is going to be out of your price range then I would also recommend the R7.

Question for you guys. If i hardwire the R7 with a blendmount to my 2018 BMW M4, how can I make sure it doesnt suck battery when the car is not running?

You need to be sure to connect it to a switched power source that goes on and off with the car. You can typically find one in the mirror or area just above mirror. There are plenty of BMW owners here who can be more specific.
