V1G2 since you want to pair with a phone. The top three have similar performance with range so you really have to look at which features you want. The G2 would serve you well.

I would recommend the Uniden R7 based on the information you provided. V1Gen2 is out due to you wanting GPS which this unit does not have and while JBV1 assists with this issue, it is only supported by Android. Escort Redline 360c is out due to cost of $799 and is outside of the listed budget.

Again, this is just my opinion. I am anxious to see what others RDF members say. Good luck!

Of the top 3 windshield detectors, the Uniden R7 and the Escort Redline 360C have the GPS. Neither requires an app to get all available options, though the Escort can use Escort Live. However, that app isn't as popular as the apps that the V1 Gen2 uses to get functionality the detector doesn't have as a standalone unit.

You have a lot of great choices for radar. I would start saving for jammers on the front though.

If you're willing to take some time to learn about JBV1 and get an android phone to pair it with the V1G2 then I'd say go for it! I sure love my setup! On the other hand, if you want to plug and play the R7 is killer as well, you really can't lose! The new Redline 360 looks promising as well since the new update, and then there's Theia right around the corner! Decisions decisions! It's a good time to be an enthusiast!

what about the Radenso?
They are awesome but you will have to wait for THEIA to come out later this year!!! It will blow all the others out the water! For now go with Uniden R7-- Its a beast and has all you need, and has great resell when Theia comes out.
Grab a Trio of ALP/s to combat all the Laser out there as well---No radar detector will help you there!

I assume you want GPS for lockouts? If so, V1 Driver provides auto lockouts. I don't believe the R7 does. Hitting a manual lockout all the time gets really old, really quickly.
If you get a dedicated Android phone you can use JBV1 which will give you very sophisticated lockouts, plus crowd sourced alerts, plus Speed and Red light cam database. CSA's and the database have selectable alert ranging.
Then you can also have Proximate Aircraft Warning System alerts if your cops use aerial surveillance.
But wait, there's more.
Seriously, there are too many useful features to list here. Check out JBV1 forum.
So if you want to use a phone it's a no brainer. Nothing else comes close.

I'm not really willing to switch over to android. Too much hassle. Sounds like I should go with the R7 and then upgrade to a Radenso later this year or next?

Well, you can always run a separate Android--buy a used high end one off Amazon. This is a huge rabbit hole............

R7--Theia--ALP=great combo/plan.

Andriod/G1V2/JBV1--TMG=great combo/plan too. I will leave the LJ recommendations to the locals!

I would do some research!

@nepats81 V1Driver works great on IOS. For VR G2. I very much recommend Valentine. Great off axis reception for your varied curvy drive. Plus I like to tweak the R7 kool-aid drinkers by selecting G2 first. :) I use G2 each and every week.

yet I also use the R7 during each week (another vehicle). It is excellent too. NO app integration. Be ready to replace brake pads more often. Keep eye on your mirrors for close Traffic. Why? Based on your warp speed you mentioned in your bio, all the BSM falsing will have you hitting the brakes first, hard, hope no rear end collision from behind, all the time. There is suspected new firmware supposed to come out with R7 to help.

G2 is the best of the two for BSM filtering. Save your brakes.. save your nerves...

Also, while I use V1Driver all the time thie G2. I also have Android with JBV1 too. It is amazing. In a 40 minute drive like you do twice a day, I would find myself using each, depending on the day. If I was quiet, focused work activity on phone, V1Driver. If I am power driving, looking at weather, Waze reports, aircraft reports, overall heavy Counter measure electronic tool while doing some power driving like a fiend, JBV1 has many other tools along with the G2. All in one device. What is cool, if you become a total geek, you can equip your G2 to run both V1Driver and JBV1 at same time.

oh, G2 has remote display option. @SquirrelMaster makes one that is killer. offers for sale.

G2 display will not fade over the years. R7 OLED will.

I have held off for moment on Redline 360c. Based on reports it also has killer performance. I really like the 360 user interface. I have several Max 360 platforms. The Escort Live is Excellent over the years. especially on moderate to heavy used roads. I know others will plaster it due to bias. That is ok. You can try for yourself. I love the mounting system in the 360c platform which is also on the RL. Nice quality over some plastic feeling detectors (same for G2 case, excellent).

IF you want to be geeky serious, and want to do your own “bake off”, buy one each of G2, R7, and Redline 360c. Test them all for yourself. Keep the top choice for yourself, give the second choice to the wife, send the third back. All within the 30 day return offered. R7, you have to be careful where you buy, some dealers have very limited return policies.

Which brings up a point.... Valentine is local American company, using as much American components as possible. Built in Cincinnati Ohio. It can only be purchased direct. So, no dealer oddities. Escort sales are mostly direct. They have simple return policy. Oh, not sure, they offer a ticket guarantee.

good luck! Any questions, please ask.

You own and use a R7? I try to say “killer” only if I own and use. Otherwise when helping a new person deciding on RD, I try to use “reported killer” if I do not own one but like what I see. :)

Your call... However some non G2 owners here accidentally forgot to mention @mswlogo iOS app called V1Driver. Amazing. He has his own section on RDF. Help is a comment away. JBV1 @johnboy00 does also. FYI.

suggest you take a bit more time to decide before doing the “default buy” R7 fans around here will promote. You may still end up with R7. More research will not be waste of your time.

I have used and tested many R7's, including several on the forum including @VariableWave 's. That more than qualifies me to say it's a killer! I've had several saves with them as well.

I recommended the V1G2 based off of you saying you wanted to pair a phone with the detector. I see you may be leaning towards the R7. I use the R7 and I think it would serve you very well too. Reports so far say the V1G2 has less false alerts than the R7 but again, that is with using a phone.

I wonder if 100% of the answers on these posts in the future will all be Theia? lol.

So definitely go with the R7 or V1G2 over the Radenso Pro M?

I shouldn’t worry about MRCD , considering i dont go crazy when I’m in NYC?

The android users love to push JBV1 and while I believe it is an excellent product, I have no desire to switch from IOS products or even consider having a second android phone. I really don't believe I need any of the special "features" JBV1 offers over V1 Driver. The auto lockout learning feature and the way V1Driver completely integrates with my CarPlay system combined with Waze really seems to provide me with everything I want/need. I do drive fast but I usually remain somewhat vigilant and I typically drive with an advance "rabbit" that I pay attention to while remaining 1/4 mile of so back. V1 Driver just compliments my driving style perfectly. Not wanting to run an App is not relevant for me as I would be running CarPlay in any case so no big deal to just set and forget V1Driver.

OP, I still highly recommend the R7 based on the area that you will be driving in. You need the best possible K band performance and reactivity. V1G2 is also a stellar detector and has merits that exceed the R7 in some aspects. But specifically for your driving area, I firmly believe the R7 is the way to go at the current time.

Getting back to reality. The choice now is Gen 2 or R7.
The Radenso is a pipe dream.

Actually it is “Theoreticalia” for time being. The new nickname for “two weeks”? :suspense:
